The "engine check" is one of the Meta's of vehicle combat in PR that has no bearing to reality and often punishes excessive maneuvering and flanking in favor of staying stationary in dead silence to get the jump on your opponent.
An engine cool down for heavy vehicles (primarily tanks) could totally reverse the current situation and encourage more proper ambush and maneuver tactics. When you hop out of your tank/APC the engine sound could keep running for 30 seconds or so to reflect no one IRL is just hitting a button every moment they stop to instantly switch off their 1,500 hp engines. Conversely their could be a warm up time for ground Assets so hoping in and out of your vehicles would force you to wait 10-20 seconds to start up the engine again instead of hoping in and driving off in a matter of seconds like GTA.
Cool down time for turning off engine/ Warm up time for starting Vehicles

We argued about this before I believe. Its not favored by many.
Aren't these Cold War era assets electric start though? I'm sure the engine won't take years to start after just shutting it off seconds ago.
And what do you mean there's no bearing to reality. It's literally like setting up a last minute ambush though.
