Kit request menu encourages taking limited kits
As of now, the kit request menu looks like this:
https://media.realitymod.com/highlights ... equest.jpg
We all know this menu well and are used to it. But imagine you are a completely new player, you just learned how to get kits from a crate. So you open the menu and first thing you see at the top is "Anti-Tank", "Sniper" and "Anti-Aircraft". All the usual new player kits are at the further down. What do you think a new player is going to request? Remember that in most other games it is nothing special to take "Anti-Tank" or "Sniper", so of course the new player will do that. Not knowing that in PR, these kits are limited and normally reserved for more experienced players.
We need to change the psychology of the kit request process so that new players intuitively request the standard kits first. I'm tired of seeing random newbie no-mics take the HAT kit when the team desperately needs it.
1. Change the order of the kits so that limited kits are at the bottom and standard, easy to use kits are at the top. So first comes rifleman, then medic AR breacher etc., then special kits like sniper spotter HAT, and at the very bottom the crewman and pilot kit. This way when you open the menu, the first two kits that jump into your eye are rifleman and medic.
2. Change "Anti-Tank" to "Heavy Anti-Tank" and "Rifleman AT" to "Rifleman Anti-Tank". This would make it more clear to a new player that the LAT kit is the regular Anti-Armor kit, while the HAT is something special that you shouldn't just request like that. Right now, someone who doesn't know the difference will just take HAT because it has Anti-Tank in it's name.
And yes, I know this will make requesting slightly more annoying because you will have to move your mouse all the way to the top to request, for example, rifleman kit. But imo this cost is worth it.

I agree and Disagree however I think you should retitle from Limited Kits to SPECIAL KITS, because all kits except Officer/Rifleman are limited. Anyways lets start by why I agree.
I agree because it puts the 'glorified' special kits at the top above everything else and it makes them stand out up there.
I disagree because the MOUSE always starts at Rifleman...Meaning that the special kits have a larger displacement compared to the normal kits that are more inf squad friendly. Medic and MG followed by AR and *Officer/Breacher then AT and Combat Engi.

Thank you, I was unsure where it would fit.Nate. wrote:Good point, I agree - moved to suggestions and approved.
I thought about this as well. But I still think the center of attention is much more biased towards the top of the list than where the mouse is.Coalz101 wrote: I disagree because the MOUSE always starts at Rifleman...Meaning that the special kits have a larger displacement compared to the normal kits that are more inf squad friendly. Ideally we'd have a complete redesign of the menu layout (something where the mouse doesn't start in the middle of the list; Maybe three lists next to each other, one in the middle for standard kits and two to the side for vehicle kits/special kits), but probably not worth the effort.

I am still getting complaints about players pressing wrong buttons for kits due to STD/ALT button split. Cant even imagine how confused they will be if we reshuffle the order.

Re: Kit request menu encourages taking limited kits
I like this idea of using neurology and psychology of the brain for new players. Position the names differently in the cluster to where its least noticeable. Find a military designated term, acronym for sniper attached to infantry platoons. Anything we can add so it happens less. Like NOBODY touches rifleman AP on the list. Know what I am talking about?rogdozz wrote: We need to change the psychology of the kit request process so that new players intuitively request the standard kits first. Put it in the section you felt you never touched. Not next to any other kits that stand out, but don't make rifleman AP look like a loner. Make those kits look un-desirable then mix and rename it.
I thought about this kind of concept for a custom hard to read vehicle plate with letters similar to the numbers like O and 0. 5 and S . Z and 2. G and 6. I and 1 . Then mix it so it can't be easy to remember, physically hard to read, the mixture of the numbers will make your brain read it off wrong.

Also, since the Alt became visible when selecting kits, i've seen players taking alt and getting unscoped kits, particularly marksman.
Either Alt kits need to be changed, or just hide alt selection back to the right click.

Making players aware of STD/ALT options was the whole point of the change.Smol Shrum wrote:Also, since the Alt became visible when selecting kits, i've seen players taking alt and getting unscoped kits, particularly marksman.

minimal change, moving all spawn kits to center and highlighting them, leaving rest as is.

Highlighting kits looks good, but its effectiveness may vary..Nate. wrote:

Re: Kit request menu encourages taking limited kits
This Feature looks good it just depends on the individual player Requesting the kit they want I personally don't have a problem with the kit selection For new players it would help
