For new players, mumble very often picks the wrong input device, rendering the player unable to speak. Fixing the problem is easy if you know how (simply go to the mumble settings), but for new players this is basically impossible to figure out on their own.
I try to track down new players on our server (vg coop) and help them out. The microphone problem from my experience is very common, i'd say the majority of all newcomers experience this. It can be challenging to explain to someone who is already confused by PRs complexity where to find the mumble settings.
It would help new players a lot, if voicechat would work from the getgo.
HOG admins are abusive, DEVs dont care.

And what is the "correct" device? Mumble should already set everything to use windows default, if the user did not configure his system correctly, we cannot help him.

Re: Mumble not picking up correct input device for new players
No worries, but it's not a technical issue. In PC repair & troubleshooting, we call that a "pebkac".
All games with VOIP use Windows Default Audio Devices for their first-time settings when used, not just PR - it's the smart bet that they'll be the "correct" device(s) - and as stated above, if they don't set that up (ever) in Windows, then the first time they discover they have a microphone issue will be when they first play a game or run software that uses the microphone (in this case, Project Reality).
It may seem common, and that you're repeating yourself often to new users, but that's just the way it is. It never ends. Your voluntary assistance to these newer players is commendable. Thank you very much!
