The other day I was playing INS as an insurgent on Karbala. There was an APC on the street and I was a combat engineer. I snuck behind the APC and started placing a radio controlled mine. As I was placing it, the APC started reversing, taking me along with it. I was pushing the S key to go back with the APC and somehow I was surviving and not getting run over. I heard the mine placing animation finish but it did not automatically switch to the detonator, it instead switched to another kit slot. When I went to the mine slot in order to use the phone detonator, it wouldn't let me and instead switched to my pistol. It was a perfect sneak job and I could have blown up a full APC, but because of this bug I couldn't. I could see the placed mine on the road, but even after dropping my kit and repicking it up, I couldn't switch to my detonator.
I have not tried to replicate this yet (needs multiple people). But it seems like when a player is being pushed by a vehicle while placing something, weird things happen.
Can't change to phone detonator in specific situation

This sounds more like you were placing a victim triggered mine and not an IED. What kit were you using?

It was definitely the radio controlled AT mine, I didn't know if the APC was going to reverse or go forward, so I placed radio controlled. I was using insurgent combat engineer on Karbala. It wasn't water-container mine because I didn't have any AT mines after that.
