Playing PR while drunk high etc
Have you ever played pr or videogames in general while intoxicated on a substance? I've played this game while high on weed and all drunk. Drunk videogaming is fun. You feel so loose. I really like drunk driving high speed cars in racing games. Same with drunk drivebys in techies or humvees. You feel so good. Like in a walking dream state for me. Weed is the worst for me. i know it calms some people down. But for me weed makes my brain turbo charged like its overclocked to 150% and it burns out my synapses. I cant stand weed. It negatively impacts me and interferes with me in my personal life. I dont wanna end up a burned out weed smoker. I had a friend who smoked weed nonstop through high school and he fried his brain so much that last I spoke to him he says that he needs weed to feel like his old self. I dont want that to happen to me so I stay away from weed and other psychedelics and hallucinogens. I did try harder stuff but it's all contaminated with fent now and I have no tolerance for the stuff and I dont wanna die from a fent overdose.
PS Im drunk now. I'm on my third 24oz can in an hour. I still got three more cans to go. I'm just begining to feel the buzz.

Playing video games drunk makes you bad, you can legit get scared playing high like in csgo being the last one alive and waiting for a full team gets your heart pumping. I almost want to have some adderall just to pop one every once and awhile for when I need to get good lol

This man understands. Drunk gaming is best gaming. Fuck the hangovers though. You ever drink 4 loco back when it had caffeine and all that energy drink shit and play cod or bf2 or pr? Shit was the bomb. I used to drink four loco and go to the arcade to play driving games. Best drunk driving simulator ever. Dont drink and drive in real life though. Unless you're on a private track or something and dont mind dying.BigBigMonkeyMan wrote:Drunk PR is kinda peak PR, not gonna lie

I don't like what intoxicants do to people's behaviour on online gaming, or IRL for that matter, but maybe it's just me. Not saying that you shouldn't do that, though. What ever floats your boat.

Re: Playing PR while drunk high etc
This is a subject I am particularly educated in, having been an indoor horticulturist of weed for around 20 years, and having studied horticultural science in college with a focus on tomatoes and peppers (which includes the family of plants that weed is from). Weed can affect everyone differently. Our bodies process THC via specific cannabinoid receptors after this is first introduced to our bodies which can vary between individuals on how it works on our mind and body. On top of that, there are several active chemicals in weed in addition to delta-8 and -9 THC to comprise a spectrum which can vary between individual strains and the growing conditions which will effect the overall potency of these combinations.dcm wrote:It negatively impacts me and interferes with me in my personal life. I dont wanna end up a burned out weed smoker. I had a friend who smoked weed nonstop through high school and he fried his brain so much that last I spoke to him he says that he needs weed to feel like his old self.
That being said, like most things we imbibe, humans will develop a tolerance to a degree with frequent use. This is naturally mitigated through the use of different strains, and in fact, it's not always easy or possible to consistently acquire the exact same strain even in places like Oregon where it is legal along the same lines as alcohol (21 and over, and never while driving).
My story:
I am a disabled American (started in my late 20's), and I refuse to take the pain pills I am prescribed unless I am going into or coming out of another surgery because they are essentially heroin - very bad stuff. While they DO work on pain, they have a host of side-effects from nausea to real addiction, and so I consider it an unsustainable way to live with a disability related to pain. Even though it wears a Red Cross, chasing that dragon's tail is akin to straight up drug use.
Instead, I use ice packs, physical therapy, rest, and lots of weed. In 2010, I was a beer drinker, more self-medication to not feel pain, but I allowed myself to buy a 6-pack of tall boys (16oz) nearly daily. 5.9% Milwaukee's Beast, nearly malt-liquor levels of alcohol content. That's like the better part of a gallon of beer per day. I got into Arma 2 scripting and learning a bit about variables and logic and flow control, but it was all very confusing and I was constantly testing and correcting mistakes and testing...
Only when I finally realized how unsustainable getting drunk was every day, dealing with hangovers and headaches so frequently it got old, and when I'd finish a 6-pack and walk to the corner store for one more 24oz beer, did I truly realized there was a problem. On top of that, when I decided to stop, for the next few days like a robot, I found myself capitulating and buying that 6-pack anyway. Once I finally stopped doing that, within a few months, I felt like John Travolta's character in Phenomenon - all of a sudden I was smart. And I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, but I am stating a fact: I was straight up dumb when I was drinking regularly (even days I didn't drink anything), and only once that stopped and my body had time to recover, did I find I could do pretty much anything that was formerly confusing or "above my head".
I started getting serious about programming and put myself through several online courses since 2015, never once running into those old mental blocks that prevented me from comprehending this complicated logic and syntax of languages from HTML/CSS to JS/PHP, several scripting languages, and finally VB.net and C# languages.
I smoke weed everyday and along with dedicated activities (typically complex coding and programming, or even wargaming), it distracts me sufficiently from the pain I wake up with and deal with throughout the day, even when simply reaching for my coffee or typing for extended periods. Over 20+ years, I have gone through several hundred hits of pure liquid LSD and even mushrooms (also now legal in Oregon) always while camping alone in the Cascades, and have never felt "burned out" by anything but extended work on some programming project that ran into overtime, or hard physical labor. Our individual motivations, will power, and personality are all additional factors that come into play - not everyone who smokes weed daily is a dumb pot-smoking burnout. Though most people who regularly consume large amounts of alcohol are not as smart as they could be in my personal experience.
...
TLDNR; How weed affects us is subjective, is not synonymous with being dumb or "burned out", and also depends on the individual strain and the potency of that product of that strain. Alcohol, on the other hand, is poison. We are slightly poisoning our body. The brain has the ability to create new brain cells, a process known as neurogenesis. Moderate alcohol consumption may actually promote neurogenesis in certain regions of the brain, but heavy and chronic alcohol use can interfere with this process and lead to brain damage. There is no known brain "damage" similarly occurring through extensive weed use, through it absolutely does effect our brains in many ways over the long term - but a lot of this can be identified and mitigated. Personally, it affects my short-term memory, so I make extensive use of notes relating to coding projects I'm working on, or issues I need to handle at our VG clan online. Additionally, weed is not addictive, and so immediate cessation will not produce health risks. For me, it is truly the lesser of "three" evils (pills, booze, weed).

I still aint smoking that shit. I've seen way too many people become burned out pot heads, cripplingly addicted to the stuff. Unable to function without a daily puff or two of their joint.SemlerPDX wrote:cut
There's a personally type I noticed that's attracted to weed and other mind altering substances. They're slow thinkers. Not stupid! Just slow thinkers. They need weed to boost their brain clockcycles to keep up with the rest of us. Where as people like myself, men who think and act very fast and are hyper and sometimes paranoid for lack of a better term. Can barely tolerate any mind altering substances. That make our brains even more hyper(I also detest Ritalin and other psychotropic drugs because they make me feel floaty and unreal, like nothing matters and that consequences aren't real. Fuck that evil shit!). When I do anything that fucks with my mind like weed. My head hurts. It feels like my brain is overheating and I need a cold shower or something to cool myself down.
People like me who detest weed also have a predisposition for alcohol. I believe because it slows us down, and makes us more loose. The only thing I hate about alcohol are the hangovers. It also makes my head hurt but in a completely different way than weed does. Less hyper, but more explody. It's funny how most of the habitual weed smokers that I've met and spoken to at any great lengths, either detest booze or drink it only at social events.
Also weed smells to me. Real fucking bad. Some people say like skunk. To me weed smells like a crematorium. Like lower Manhattan the day of 9/11. I was there when it happened. I still remember the smell of burned bodies, cinder, tar and ash. Revolting and Disgusting. No wonder some people call marijuana the cannibal's plant. Now that weed's pretty much legal in new york the whole damn city smells like a giant fucking corpse to me. Now I understand why the first weed bans were said to be because of the smell. The latter weed bans were because of it's familial association with hemp and newspaper magnates not wanting to lose their paper mill monopolies.
P.S. I've tried other drugs too. Tobacco and Nicotine is fucking disgusting. Nicotine especially so, it makes my throat hurt. I used to vape and I could only tolerate nicotine in vape format. Cigars are less offensive to me than cigarettes for some reason. Cocaine was nice. But it's all contaminated with fentanyl and I dont want to accidentally OD. Never did anything with needles. Cause fuck that shit.
P.S.S. I believe that I am the pretty much the exact opposite of you. I'm not good with computers or thinking that programming and scripting skills require. I'm more of a physical kind of guy. Hard logic and such. Alcohol takes me out of my self. In more ways than one. It removes my inhibitions and slows me thinking down. It makes me more open and sociable to people. But sometimes I reach a point when I'm drunk, right below blackout drunk, I reach ******* drunk. I become a real ******* to people. Especially those who've done something to piss me off. That's when I know I have to stop drinking or at least temper it somewhat. Yeah beer makes me dumber. But sometimes it's nice to be dumb. It's fun to have no limiters. For me being drunk is like having the voice in my head that tells me how to act properly, go take a nap and let the body have it's fun. It's weird. I know when I'm drunk and I still do the wrong action. I like it though. It's so much fun. I heard that programmers like to microdose shrooms throughout the day. I tried that once. Awful fucking headache.
I do agree with your point on painkillers. I dont mess with that stuff. I heard horror stories of people becoming heroin addicts after going on opioids for minor injuries. I took pain pills a few times. I hated the feeling. It did not take me out of pain. It gave me a similar feeling that anti depressants and weight loss drugs did. I turned to alcohol to cope with the pain and it worked wonderfully for me. Yes my thinking was 'retarded' (Not a slur! I'm using it in the proper scientific way). But so was my ability to feel pain. Like one time somebody slammed a heavy wooden door on my fingers. And I drank the pain away.
And yes. I'm into my third beer already. 24 oz can of cheap beer with 5% alcohol content.

I appreciate this open forum to talk about these things. I trust many PR players more than many people I have met IRL. I met CarlWeathers (legendary PR player) IRL and he was exactly how I thought he would be. PR is a useful social tool and can be used to overcome personal struggles of literally any kind. As David Simone, creator of "The Wire" said, "the greatest lie told to the American (Western) people is that if you are smart or cunning enough, keep your head down and work, you will be rich and successful beyond your wildest dreams." Distrust of others in the neo-liberal world is inherent because we must always compete with others to be rich or succesful. In PR we compete with other players, but then the next round we play with them. Stress is built into Western society and we rely on substances to overcome this, but if we allow ourselves to work as a team and embrace our evolutionary tendencies, we can view the world as we should and no longer need substances. Alcohol does make us more sociable, but it also has negative health effects that I personally try to avoid by only getting a buzz and maintaining that in certain social situations, like PR. Talk to me next time you see me in game.

Marijuana is not addictive, is not habit forming, and has no ability to affect a person's functionality if they miss a 'daily puff or two'. If such could be said, then it would merely be the same as most any recreational activity for such a person: "unable to function without some time in the day for ourselves to unwind".dcm wrote:... cripplingly addicted to the stuff. It can affect everyone differently, your own experiences personally smoking it should not be assumed to be the experience of others. Observations and presumptions may form your opinions and your personal beliefs, but there is already established science contradicting some of what you presume and it would be best not to assume blithely just because you think you've seen people who are 'cripplyingly addicted' to smoking pot. Personal observation and beliefs don't amount to scientific facts. Weed doesn't "increase the brain clock cycles" or make slow thinking people smart or faster thinkers.
Might as well assume that a block of wood contains fire, because if it ignites, the fire is released until all that is left is a black husk which used to contain the wood and the fire.

Re: Playing PR while drunk high etc
This is one reason among many, why I cant stand marijuana and other harder drug users. They cant admit that they have a problem. See, I know that I have a problem with alcohol. I admit as much. Sometimes, I'm powerless in the face of booze. Most other alcoholics also realize the same, they understand scope and magnitude of their addiction. But we continue to drink anyway, knowing full well that we're destroying ourselves.
But most other types of addict are too narcissistic to admit the same. They refuse to recognize the addiction potential of their preferred choice of narcotic. Not just weed, but heroin and opioid users too. You think, just because marijuana is relatively new(legally wise), that it should be immune from the same criticism that other legacy drugs have been under? I dont. But I know many marijuana users who do. It's personally offensive to them that anybody identifies the addiction potential of marijuana. It's like a grievous offense against their very being.
Drugs do affect everyone differently. I believe it all comes down to personality and brain structure.I already have adult ADHD and I think and act fast. Me taking anything that forces my brain to go any faster causes extreme physical pain and mental anguish. My coworker smokes alot of weed. She needs it to function. She says that it calms her down and helps her do her work. Fine. But she like most weed users, cant understand that it does the exact opposite for me. It's like weed smokers cant empathize with non weed smokers.
A friend of mine who is very heavy into shrooms and other mind altering substances told me that my personality is too strong for hallucinogens. This is why I love beer. It slows me down. It melts away the hyperactivity and gives me a modicum of peace.

Here is the thing with weed and shrooms. With weed you can smoke it everyday no issue, the smoke is notably safer than cigarettes smoke by its characteristics, it lingers without dissipating as fast into as bad of a lung residue. You can be blowing out smoke after 3 exhales, cigarettes turn things yellow. Cannabis oils vaporize into what you see in a dirty bong, its completely organic residue vs cigarettes. That is as bad as it gets.dcm wrote:This is one reason among many, why I cant stand marijuana and other harder drug users. They cant admit that they have a problem. With shrooms the tolerance is crazy, one day you take 4 grams the next you need 8 to get the same dose for 2 weeks. So naturally you take it once every 1-4 weeks. First time users usually binge. Shrooms is like being drunk with full motor skill control. Able to maintain, best laughs of my life, come up with the best jokes, it really helps PTSD more than weed. One example of a shroom joke is how loose my friends side girl is, we deduced she fists herself cause she is addicted to pain killers.
These 2 things won't destroy your life, you can still function and very happily. The risks are its risks with safety with buying from people who pretend to sell to rob you, then the legal repercussions of drugs that shouldn't be illegal.
So look at it this way, alcohol and cigarettes are legal, most harmful legal combination. Cigarettes are pointless, you only get lightheaded your first few times smoking and 10 second rush in morning. Alcohol damages every organ in your body, including the brain, you can't walk. You make bad permanent life choices while drunk.
Shrooms and weed are the safest intoxicating substances to consume. Straight cut from the Earth and dried. Used for 1000s of years. All these pills the pharma makes comes from the Earth, its not anything special. I can look up alternatives in herbs I might have to leech, crush, decarboxylate and all other aspects of laboratory processing. I could use beakers or clay pottery.

Re: Playing PR while drunk high etc
It is offensive because it is untrue. What is seemingly true based on your assumptions and statements above is that you do not understand addiction, or are using the term so loosely that its meaning as it relates to drugs is being diluted to the point where you think it applies to marijuana. It does not. Marijuana is not a 'hard drug', doesn't even rise up to the level of alcohol, let alone other truly addictive drugs.dcm wrote:It's personally offensive to them that anybody identifies the addiction potential of marijuana.
These terms have meanings, and drugs have legal classifications, for a reason. I don't care if you want to demonize or stigmatize marijuana - it won't matter for those of us in legal states where we have clearly voted for the fact that "if you can have your beer, we can have our joints".
When I say you don't understand addiction, it is because you seem to gloss over the fact that abruptly quitting alcohol or hard drugs can result in serious physical harm or even death in some cases, especially for individuals who have been using substances heavily for an extended period of time. This is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE for smoking weed by any stretch of the imagination. This is what is meant by "addiction" - quite a difference between poor impulse control and a crippling addiction.
Alcohol withdrawal symptoms can range from mild to severe and can include anxiety, agitation, seizures, hallucinations, and delirium tremens (DTs). DTs is a severe form of withdrawal that can cause high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, fever, and even death in some cases.
Similarly, abruptly quitting heroin or other opioids can result in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, anxiety, and insomnia. In severe cases, opioid withdrawal can lead to seizures, dehydration, and heart failure.
This does not occur in ANY heavy regular marijuana user if they were cut off abruptly. This is because marijuana is not addictive like that. Marijuana "addiction" is characterized by a compulsive pattern of use despite negative consequences, such as relationship problems, job loss, or legal troubles. Regular marijuana use can lead to tolerance, meaning that higher doses are needed to achieve the desired effects, and withdrawal symptoms can occur when use is discontinued, such as irritability, anxiety, insomnia, and decreased appetite.
These terms are not the same as they apply unequally to hard drugs and alcohol, or marijuana. You can't say them in the same breath to mean the same thing. One is very serious, the other is a minor inconvenience for the user if they stop.

Shrooms are a highly potent hallucinogen and potentially very dangerous if not respected, used in a mostly controlled environment, and/or supervised by a friend or loved one who is not using them or has well established experience with them at the dose level being used.Grump/Gump.45 wrote:Shrooms and weed are the safest intoxicating substances to consume. Just because something is cut straight from the Earth and dried (or used for thousands of years) has nothing to do with the safety of its intoxicating effects or aftereffects that could follow. The same things could be said about opium, and that is very much not "safe". They're all mind altering substances that should be respected, and folks should seek out proper knowledge of these things before use - without assumptions.

You're so addicted that you dont know you're addicted.
You're more worried about perceived legitimacy and federal legalization of marijuana and other drugs, that you deny the potential harm to protect your favorite herb.
You're disingenuous.
@grump
It's not about organic and artificial. Addiction comes in many forms. You can be addicted to food, sex, gambling, etc. Some of those are natural and some are human made constructs.
But the most prominent symptom of addiction is the formation of habits surrounding your opiate of choice. And the desire you feel to get more of the stuff when off the stuff. Tell me how long can you go without a puff? How does it make you feel when you abstain from weed for a long time? There is no reason, but addiction itself, for people to do drugs. You may not be addicted to the drug itself, but to the feeling that the drug gives you.
I'm not so egotistical that I cant admit that alcohol has me by the balls. And as much I hate the taste and the after effects. I love the feeling of being loose and tipsy. I love how alcohol frees me from my restraints. I know if I drink too much, then I'll blackout and not remember the next day. But that's half the fun.

Playing PR drunk, ruins the experience for others. Would just rather not. I have enjoyed the odd beer while playing. But to play it drunk is beyond lame. Especially when people start using it as an excuse to act like a dog ****.

drunk PR is way too much fun. we need more PR drinking events. i was lucky enough to participate in the last one which was during PRTA´s anniversary and its still one of my more memorable gaming experiences (the parts that i can remember). I had taken 21-22 shots of vodka. i think i still have saved the notebook where i tracked how many shots i got.
Ok i went ahead and looked for it and i actually found it

Died: 15 times
Play music while driving: 1 time
stabbed someone: 3 times * 3 shots
Vehicle Flipped: 1 time * 3 shots
DDOS attack to server: 3 times
Heli/jet crashes: 3 times
Lose a match: 2 times * 2 shots
Win a match: 2 times
So in total i took hmmm, oh dear. 40 shots of vodka. Yeaah so thats why i fell asleep on the keyboard then LMAO

Once again, you demonstrate your ignorance. You are just plain wrong, and are lashing out because I presented irrefutable scientific facts you are unwilling or unable to address.dcm wrote:@semler

You're disingenuous.
Have you ever heard the saying, "It's better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt" ?
If I was addicted, it would affect me when I stop (or I would have a hard time stopping). This would be one of the first key signs of an addiction, even if we were to gloss over the fact that a real addiction has real withdrawl. Because of the very fact that federal legalization is not yet a thing, it is a federal crime to transport a baggie of weed in my car from my weed-legal state of Oregon even to the neighboring weed-legal state of Washington (let alone other "non-legal" states, goes without saying), and I'd sooner hang myself than break federal laws! When I fly out to see my kid who is in college in the Midwest, I typically stay for a week, and have no issues with the fact that I'm not smoking weed (besides the lack of distraction from my pain), making it a bit of a 'hold your breath and get through it' week of increased pain intolerance, but I don't let that distract me much from activities with my kid, and really only notice it as I toss and turn trying to get to bed on osteoarthritic shoulders as a side-sleeper. I can't take sleeping pills because I have to flip over hourly else risk waking in searing pain when I finally do wake.
If I don't have weed, I make do - it's not an addiction, it's merely greatly appreciated. I would have to have far less willpower and impulse control to fall victim the very innocuous form of "addiction" as it applies to marijuana, which to be clear, is about the same form of "addiction" attributed to binge-watching, and NOT hard drug addiction.
You should avoid making judgements and putting labels on other people, particularly disabled Americans such as myself who have been prescribed marijuana as an alternative to prescription opiates.
I have been brutally honest and very far from disingenuous in my rather candid replies here. This because I feel some of your ignorant statements and assumptions may be partially dispelled if you have a chance to interact with someone who is a high functioning and productive daily pot smoker. I would not do well to support that goal by being disingenuous, embellishing facts, or flat out making things up. I'm honest with myself first, and am being honest with you all. I have nothing to gain by lying, there are no internet points to win, no mensu to save, and there is no flame on your screen - it is only an illusion.
I suggest you read "Utopia" by Sir Thomas Moore, perhaps "Unbroken Brain: A Revolutionary New Way of Understanding Addiction" by Maia Szalavitz, and maybe just more books in general.
I don't pull this stuff out of my backside, and I don't come up with it on my own - though I have decades of personal experience with it, these concepts are universal and part of the human experience so much that I could be seen as merely parroting what is already well understood.

A final note:
Making bold declarations and blatant insinuations is no way to refute the facts I present on this topic, either try harder or capitulate that you have much to learn on this topic beyond your existing beliefs and presumptions.
