Confused about how kill credits work

Post by Leshy »

I was playing last night and this happened:

-My squadleader used a car bomb to kill 4 guys. One of the guys is revived.

-I come in with a Gary and kill 3 others, including the guy that was revived.

-My squadleader got credit for the kill for the revived guy I killed, the other 2 guys I killed no one got credit for killing.

-Why is this? I confirmed it all in the tracker, don't know why I didn't get credit for the 3 kills. They were not revived.

Kills have a delay to show up in scoreboard.

Happens just south of the most northern bridge at 3:31:10 mark, that's when my sql attacks them, I come shortly after.

I know this is off topic, since the question is whether the kill-counter is buggy or not. But still I feel that I need to point out that I wish we could remove kills from the end screen.

Normally, the game will award the kill on the scoreboard when the killed player respawns.

If I'm not mistaken, bomb trucks operate similar to jets in that they release a bomb object that then detonates. I don't know the coding, but large bombs sometimes behave as environmental effects, meaning that the deaths become due to environmental factors and count as suicide instead of a kill. My guess is that it's the coding of a secondary splash effect that allows large bombs to penetrate through bunkers/terrain. It's also why sometimes after being bombed, it sometimes feels like you survive the initial detonation before dying a split second after, and you get the 1 min "suicide penalty" respawn time.

If you play through the BR file, you will see that you don't get credit for the kills, either through the kill lines on the map nor the kill feed.

Just to correct - For bomb trucks, the old system use to work like jets in that it will "drop" a bomb object on the ground but it's long been changed to detonate instantly like the bomb car.
