Error writing to registry key

I have installed a previous version of the game which worked just fine, but I just can't seem to install the newest release properly. At the end of the installation it gives me this error message:

Error writing to registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Uninstall\Project Reality: BF2 (pr)_is1

RegSetValueEx failed; code 5.
Access is denied.

So far I have tried the following:
-disabled antivirus while installing
-let the installer through firewall
-launched the installer in administrator mode
-tried to give permissions to the installer in regedit
-tried to delete the key in regedit
-cleaned the registry with CCleaner
-deleted folders left from the previous installation (in documents and appdata local)
-tried different installers (the torrent one and the download assistant one)
-tried unchecking Read-only on the installer folder

Any idea what could be causing this? I never had this issue before

same here..

what i did is to force close the instalation because the game is stopped in 99% and now seems to work but i dont know

game is complete garbage.. then happened another error.. debug assertion failed.. fucking shitty game, years ago used to work..
