Zeroing infantry weapons

Seems like a great idea, and helps to boost the realism thing on the game.

We need a better way to zero weapons. The current system of holding 'Q' and selecting a range, while usable, is very unergonomic. Same with using 'C' to change between main sights and backup sights. I believe a better system should operate entirely upon the mouse buttons itself, because; A) It's more logical, and B) More Ergonomic. I believe it should be carried out like this.

Mouse 1: Fire
Mouse 2: Aim Down Sight

Double Click Mouse 2: Use back up sight.
Double Click Mouse 2 again; to swap between main sights and backup sights.
But from an non-Aiming position, double clicking Mouse 2; will always go straight into back up sights.

Hold Mouse 2; while aiming, to zero the weapon with the scroll wheel.
Scroll UP: Increase Zero
Scroll Down: Decrease Zero
Hold Mouse 2 and Press Mouse 3(a.k.a. scroll wheel middle button/middle mouse), to reset zero.

I believe that we should be able to Zero backup sights as well as main sights. Like the SMAW iron sights. And if we ever get WW1 content, I sure as shit would love to be able to bring up volley sights and hit targets from 2km out, with a rifle.

I believe this rework should be applied across the board, for all weapons. Handheld like rifles and automatic rifles, and crew served machine guns and gmgs.

Or just buy a mouse with more buttons and remap to it??

No! That solution is lazy and contemptuous. Lazy because it offloads the problem onto the user himself. And contemptuous, because you're requiring the user to purchase additional peripherals to properly use the product. In limited circumstances that can work. E.G. Flight sims and the like. But this is a desktop experience. You have to design the product around the lowest common denominator.

What is the standard input medium for most windows desktop users today? 108+ Key keyboard and a three button mouse with a scroll wheel. You have to take into account the type of product itself when designing the user interface. You must take user ergonomics, intended use and experience congruity, under consideration when designing the user experience.

For example; If I am already using the mouse to primarily aim and shoot? Then it is only logical and expected by the end user; that any extensions or expansions upon the concept of aiming and shooting; should be based upon and originate from the mouse itself. It's jarring when you're used to doing one action on one input medium and forced to use another input medium to input a similar or derived action. It's fine if the actions are identical, like say reloading. But it's not ok, when you have to use mouse the aim and keyboard to shoot. It's not the 90's anymore.
