When you're an old gaming nerd but you admit you know little to nothing about computers..
Im not sure if the support section is the right place for this but I figured most of the smart people would be hanging out here.
Like the title indicates I'm just here looking for the best and easiest way to save replays of the game so I can upload it later.. I use this geforce experience bullshit for recording other games but PR is not a supported game in that application.
I tried to get OBS working but there is just way too many settings options to go through and set up on that thing imo, I failed to get it working for replays.
So if anyone has a really simple to use "for dummys" software or any advice on how to save replays I would appreciate that a lot!

GeForce Experience works with PR. You just have to set your keyboard shorcuts so that you can control it manually. Open GeForce Experience and start in-game overlay by clicking the triangle logo on the top menu bar. It's in between notification bell and settings cogwheel. You don't have to be in a game when doing this. On the overlay you can find another settings cogwheel. Click that and you'll see settings menu with various items related to keyboard shortcuts, recordings, etc. Open keyboard shortcuts and the the keys so that they don't interfere with PR key binds. After you're happy with all your tweaks, close the overlay from the top right corner of your display, launch PR and start recording.Cobain the dead wrote:When you're an old gaming nerd but you admit you know little to nothing about computers..

OBS also works fine for a more direct control over video quality and file size. Yes, there are a lot of settings, but if you were to review an article on basic OBS setup (in your case, for recording, not streaming) and the use of the Replay Buffer, or maybe one of the hundreds of tutorials on YT, you'd probably get the hang of it fast enough.Cobain the dead wrote:When you're an old gaming nerd but you admit you know little to nothing about computers..

Since you have an Nvidia GFX card, possibly better than my 'last gen' 2070 Super, you could likely just copy my settings as a starting point and try them out, tweaking as needed after you check out some details on some of the settings.
The Replay Buffer is a feature that can turn the last X seconds into a video file. The size of the replay buffer (and length of the clip) is dictated by the amount of RAM you can make available for it, a good rule would be to never let this exceed 70% of your free RAM while running the game, so that your OS has plenty of free space for its own uses.
You just start OBS, start the Reply Buffer and play your game, and then hit your 'Save Reply' button as you've set it under Hotkeys in OBS settings, or click the 'down arrow' button in the OBS window next to the Start/Stop Buffer button anytime you wanna save the last X seconds of gameplay to a recording per your settings for replays.
I record at 1080p 60FPS, at very high quality settings, and that makes 5 minute videos of around 0.5GB - an hour of a game is just over 5GB. I am using .mkv output format with auto-remux into .mp4 when saved. This is the recommended output manner since a (rare) OBS program crash could obliterate an .mp4 recording spanning some time if ended abruptly, yet an .mkv will simply end where the OBS program stopped working, and the file could then still be used/remuxed into an .mp4 container.
Hope this helps, GeForce is much easier and you should try to get that working. Any questions on OBS, I'm happy to offer tips if I can.
TLDNR; GeForce is literally the easiest way to record any gaming clip with little or no experience with tech or software, but if you want more control, OBS is the way to go and it's not hard to grasp if you spend an afternoon with some tutorials and maybe try out these settings for a test:

I already tweaked the hotkeys on Geforce Experience and its working for everything else.clueless_noob wrote:GeForce Experience works with PR. When I play PR it even reacts to the hotkey and it says "this function requires a supported game". Any ideas how to get it to actually work with PR?

It should work out of the box without any changes.Cobain the dead wrote:I already tweaked the hotkeys on Geforce Experience and its working for everything else.

Does the overlay show up if you press "ALT+Z" while the game is running?

Yes the overlay opens up if I press ALT+Z while running PR.PBAsydney wrote:It should work out of the box without any changes.

But still the same problem remains, when ever I hit the save replay hotkey, the notification just pops out and says it requires a supported game and doesn't save anything..
Again this ONLY happens with PR, I can save replays on all other games.
I even tried to locate / search for PR in the application but it wont find PR or support it.
