GAME FREEZES WHEN I TRY TO JOIN A MULTIPLAYER GAME

I mean, it works perfect in co-op mode and all types of offline game modes, but whenever I try to join a multiplayer server, the whole game just freezes. It can stay like that forever, it really freezes and the only way to exit is with escape (I can click exit or disconnect, that is not blocked, but the rest is).
I am using windows 11 and my pc is capable of running the game, I just want a solution because I can't play the game like it is intended to. I tried re-downloading it and the issue is still there.

Try changing your DNS or connecting via a VPN, this seems like a connection issue.
