Different jet targeting system
Ok, I know how a lot of us feel that jets just aren't right in BF2. Same could be said with the helicopters. I'm not talking Project Reality, I'm talking about the BF2 engine in general. I LOVE flying jets in the game, but I can't help how unrealistic it is. Flying super low and super slow so you can bomb and gun the enemy down? Come on, it's not real whatsoever.
I'm not in the military so if this sounds unrealistic, please let me know or post in here for clarification.
We all know the main limiting factor for "real" close air support is BF2's view distance. It just plain sucks. The view distance is so short that pilots pretty much have to do low-altitude and low-speed strafing runs. I don't know of many planes that actually do "strafing runs" besides maybe the A-10 (since it's role is more closely related to ownage on the ground).
How about adding a targeting screen inside the cockpit of a jet that increases view distance? Problem being, is this even possible? Can you code a farther view distance JUST for certain vehicles? Basically, the viewing distance would be the same and normal like it is now. But there will be small targeting screen inside the cockpit that takes your current view distance and enhancs it 4x. Since it's a small screen, I think it would be less demanding on a computer. This could possibly be used for bombing or long range maching gun fire, I don't know just yet.
I know a "zoom" capability for the helicopter was mentioned but how is that going to work? Will it physically increase the players view distance?
So, is this possible? If so, would it be helpful?

Lock-on is a awesome game, don't let the fact that ubisoft published it discourage you. The studio that makes the game cut ties with ubisoft after there initial release. Everything they have done after that they have done on there own. Their newest game is on the same engine just modded a little from what I can tell. Here's a YouTube vid from one of the testers.

It is a great game, except for some reason the damn patches won't work for me so I can't play online.
On another note, as I mentioned before, I would like the Air-to-Ground targeting system to go back to the vanilla version. Jets do not lock on to eerything on the ground, if you're gonna make it lock on to a SUV that hasn't been used the whole round, why not let it lock on to a rock? Maybe if you went back to the vanilla targeting system or made it so that if a vehicle has been used in the last, say, 15 seconds, it would show up on your hud. I hope you guys change this in the so called "jet audit" Other than that I have no gripes with the superb jets.
