New patch and ctd

Hi Guys,Its been along time since i've been hear,about a year. I havent played bf2 since and would like to play again.I have problems with the new bf2 patch 1.41 it ctd when I try to log on to my server account even in single player. I have reinstalled 3 times.I have been all over the forums and it looks like im not alone, seems to be a major problem with the new patch.I was hopeing that some one could tell me what the previous bf2 patch, prmm mod was before 1.41 and if any prmm servers are still running the previous patch and mod.

I can't imagine it would be directly related to the user account. But perhaps renaming your My Documents\Battlefield 2 directory which will force you to retrieve your account next time you start the game.

I say rename and not remove in case you forgot the email you used or something.

I have all my accounts retrieved, but I did try what you suggested, when I went to get my accounts it crashed

I'm done with trying to get this game to work,thanks to the guys who offered suggetions,I can't spend the rest of my life trying to figure out ways to get BF2 to work.

Call the EA Technical Support (if they haven't been overrun by no good executive douches, or as I like to call them- vampires)

Hi Guys
I was hopeing some of you guys at PR might be able to help me with this,
I have been in touch with EA support, they told me to run the game in the small window mode and try to log on to my account, when I did I got this error message:

I let EA know about the error and they told me to uninstall the game, which I did, then they told me to create a new user log on with admin abilitys in windows on my pc and reinstall the game and 1.41 patch in the new user log on.I did and It still gave me the same error message. I can retrive my BF2 account if I don't install the patch and can play the CD version online with no problem but as soon as I install the patch, and try to retrive my BF2 account,CTD in full window mode

OK. You need to revert any changes you've made to the hosts file (possibly done to enable some sort of alternative ranking). Then it should work. Dice added in that check to prevent people from getting their rank/unlock data from anywhere other than the gamespy servers. It's a bit stupid that they didn't bother to fix it so it didn't crash.

I remember when I was playing PR about a year ago I had to change something in windows to have my ranking done on abr, but I cant remember where in windows I made the change, If any one knows please let me know.

YOUR THE MAN!!! I went to Glory Hounds and looked up an old tread about abr and found where I made the changes in windows,I deleted the string for abr and I cant belive my game now works without crashing, I'm going to install the PR mod and Ill be back to PR Gaming shortly,

Yeah, I contacted their support once and after a week of them giving me the try this and that i figured out the problem was b/c EA couldn't handle the fact that my `My Documents` folder was being redirect to my windows 2003 server.

EA had me doing all kinds of stupid s***T to my pc, Their support is a waste of time.
