Kills and Deaths

Well unforunately I use the TAB screen in smaller games to check for enemy death... I wish I didnt but I do it almost on reflex....

Anymore than 6 per team though and I generally dont do this as I dont look on MY score, but on the enemy team and see if their name is 'greyed' or not. Also, alot of my tactics are based on the enemies numbers.... if I see the enemy has alot of dead soldiers, Ill be more aggressive because I know there is alot less guns around.

However Id love to see all this removed.

And I agree with downtown_two ESPECIALLY regarding the M4. Right now I consider it a cheap cheap gun, like the support guns in 0.32 and the grenade launchers from 0.2.

Yes, its easy to use and gets you lots of kills. Does it promote teamwork? Not one damn bit. All it does is promote deathmatch. So if you value teamwork in PRM, please, do NOT use the USMC specops kit until it has been toned down in 0.41

looking at the scoreboard is not the same as taking an advantage of an exploit that makes it impossible to be killed. one is cheating, the other is not.

i would LOVE to see the scoreboard removed until the end of the round. i use TAB to check kills in certain situations where you cant confirm the kill visually (like 'nading a room, or firing into brush or jungle, for instance). if this ability were removed, firefights could last 5-10 seconds after an enemy has already been downed, which would take more time, more attention, and more ammo than it does when you confirm a kill via the scoreboard. it's a minor gameplay issue, but it'll make a difference in the action, for sure.

with the scoreboard, there's basically kill messages. telling people not to look at the scoreboard is like telling people not to look at the top of the screen for kill messages. they both need to be removed...

thats why you spawn first, watch the squads in action and join the appropriate one, which would be a pretty realistic way of doing things given the circumstances.

also the need to confirm a kill via score board will be unecessary if the deaths of the enemies are more... exuberant, or maybe some extra blood effects?

I would also like to see this gone, but until it is, I use it.

Sure the enemy might use this kinda stuff, but it's their decision. If you really think that looking at the kills from a scoreboard makes you a superior player then do so. But to me it's more about skill and teamwork than looking at the score board.
Maybe we just don't have the same will power as you!

(but then again, looking at you're win : loss maybe you should start using it! :-D )

my ONLY gripe with this is not being able to recognize REDICULOUS hacking obviousness when someone comes in and grabs 10000 kills and 0 deaths.

If he's using chamz or a wallhack he'll have no problem knowing that he killed the guy.. so he won't even need the scoreboard... and we'd have no clue either.

So otherwise.. yeah.. get it out of the game quick.

True. I guess they would only really get away with it for 1 round though and when an admin saw his score they would be monitored next round via BF2CC and observation. (And saying that i'll be inclined to alt-tab out every now and again to check my score in BF2CC if I can't tell in game. :-D )

Having no scoreboard will have an effect on matches. There's plenty decisions made on how many are dead on the other team. I guess it will involve a bit more guesswork/comms but that's not a bad thing as it's realsim we're looking for.

However, i'm curious as to what will take the place of the scoreboard. Will it just be a list of names in no order? I'd hate to think I couldn't see who was on an who wasn't along with total numbers. I guess I could find out from BF2CC but that's not ideal all the time.

It would make it harder.
The hardcore will like it more.
In small games it would mean that SL would need to report enemy KIA to the commander so he can judge how many reinforcements are available to the enemy, and just like IRL the numbers would be wrong sometimes and your squad would get ambushed.

I love the idea, i think it should have been done long ago, but i think that more classes should be given binoculars if this is done, to help confirming kills
