.41
Can we get an update on the status of the .41 patch...I thought it was coming out soonish but maybe I am mistaking it for something else...
Also, Egg or whomever can you consider toggling the 3D map to off as default or removing altogether. It feels like an oversight that needs to be corrected. That's all...congrats guys, the one mod still growing in player count is PR! I knew it all along! Soon it will be the standard...if I had it my way anyway...flattery helping any on the 3d map request?
edit: ps: http://www.fileplanet.com/171876/170000 ... sault-Demo!!!

toggle 3d map to default off???
you have to be jesting! if it is default off then all servers will have to have TK Punish turned off so those incapable of spotting friendly mines before driving over them can't take it out on the innocents engineers out there.
Or maybe bring a new punish value in for drivers who drive over friendly mines based on how many passengers they just lost. That'll stop them doing it!
Although this game is trying to push into the realms of reality, some things have to be kept in the gameplay that are slightly less than reality due to the restricted field of vision, a computer screen unlike human eyesight and players not having spent 12 weeks in basic training then a year with their unit before they should be considered fully combat capable.

Well with that logic crosshairs should be in. People can always toggle the 3D map on. It's mainly the flags I hate seeing. See em through mountains, see 1000 meters away...I toggle it on sometimes in a chopper, but I try to keep er lookin as real as possible. It's just so much more immersive when they are off. Makes a big difference I think...

Oh, that i will agree with. There many a time when I want the flags out of the way because they have cunningly disguised an enemy soldier right in the direction i was walking and i get cut down purportedly by a glowing flag armed with a gun.
Unless access to maps or even minimap is taken away from normal soldiers, there really is no need for those particular sprites to be in our face.
Keep clay and mine sprites though, it's very difficult to tell a member of another squad to :
"please move to the right at least 12ft or when the enemy rush you, that clay you are standing on that is one fun way i have of eliminating the oncoming troops will most likely get you killed with them when I press my clacker"

Since we can't get VOIP to work the way we would like it (or I would like it) the warnings for clays and mines should stay and be seen farther away. Getting someone on your team but not on your squad to read the message you typed is IMPOSSIBLE. Even if they are on your squad and can hear you they will, half the time, not understand what you are trying to say.
EA plugged in the Gamespy "browser technology" (read ****) but could not use Teamspeak for the VOIP. *shrug*

I don't get it, some of you want the 3d map off, but the skull and crossbones to show up further out. If we are talking some sense of reality here, I see the 3D map as more real than skulls and crossbones......at least with the 3D map you can equate it to waypoints or HUDs or something......but a skull and crossbones you would NEVER see in real life.....you would have to get out and LOOK to see if they were your mines or not......and even they were....when you hit them...they still go boom. I say leave the 3D map, and I could care less about the skull and crossbones.

errr, i set mne to left alt'[R-PUB wrote:MrD']because they have cunningly disguised an enemy soldier right in the direction i was walking and i get cut down purportedly by a glowing flag armed with a gun.
Leave in the 3D map because pilots DO need to see WTH is going on down there. especialy because of view distance scale. its hard enough flying at the low/unrealistic levels you do in BF2. You should rarely get downed by stingers and NEVER by the grail, as its meant to be the shortest range of the series.
Yeah, thats REALLY annoying seeing an enemy i didnt notice who was wounded's heal kit sign appear and then i get him. Totaly unrealistic.GeZe wrote:Oh, and you guys forgot to take out the amo pack icons and the health pack (bandage) icons... they shouldn't be there but they are.
