H-60 improvements

Post by Super62 »

DAP
You probably already know what it is. If you don't, its a Black Hawk with lots of guns, Hellfires and other fun things. I would personally like to see the version with the 30mm cannon and hellfires. Since BF2 features switching weapons the copilot could choose between the Hellfires and M230 cannon. The 30mm cannon should be aimed in the display screen, not from the outside. Also we need a base MH60k model, with refueling boom and a flare dipsenser. and external tanks.

Seahawk
We need to get that poor excuse for a Navy SH60 off, paint it grey and get some real markings on it.
Also ive noticed in pictures and videos, most of the time the (deploying SEALs) SH60s are carrying M240s not miniguns. That brings me to another point SH, the SH60 was designed for ASW. I don't know if subs will be added but Image

Peguin ASW missles (hellfires as a subsitute) or torpedos would be cool. We could always use them against RHIBs and APCs :D

And for thos of you who care... Blackhawks are used by the Army only. the navy uses the seahawk, the 'Navy' one that DICE made is not a seahawk(the tailwheel is misplaced)

Another thing that would be nice to see would be the ability to carry 6 people as passengers w/ crew.. unlike the current BF:2 one in which you can only carry 6 all together...

and i have not seen any UH60's with a 30mm cannon... if you are talking about the Miniguns that they have now(ingame and real life) those are 7.62x39mm... the same exact thing the enemy is shooting at you through thier AK-47's

Correct. But the US Air Force also uses the Blackhawk as the H/MH-60G Pavehawk (CSAR/special ops) and the Marines use it as the VH-60N Blackhawk (presidential transport). Just FYI, the US Navy is phasing in the C/MH-60S Knighthawk, which is based on the UH-60L but has Seahawk engines, and lacks the rear landing gear configuration of the Seahawk.

The MH-60L DAP is able to carry the M230 30mm cannon (the same cannon found on the Apache) on the ESSS pylons. It is seen here on the port side of the helo.

You can also see it in the first photo that Super62 posted.

As for the miniguns, they do not fire the same ammunition as the AK-47. They use the 7.62 x 51mm NATO cartridge.

I dont know whether we will be able to implement a 9 crew member helicopter, i'm pretty sure the engine limits us to 6 people per veihcle.

I found a new HH60 Pavehawk variant with .50 door guns :) I know its a model but I don't think they would make something like that up.

Yes, that is an actual configuration. GAU-16/XM218 (M2 .50 cal in helicopter configuration; 750 rpm cyclic over usual 500-550) in the doors and GAU-2/M134 in the windows.

BTW, the Seahawk variant used for special operations support/CSAR is the HH-60H, which is the alleged variant in BF2.

Note the differences between it and the SH-60B and SH-60F.

No they changed it back to Seahawk, it is the SH60R model.

Actually, Super, you're thinking of the "Strikehawk." The C/MH-60S still carries the "Knighthawk" monicker and has been in service for a couple of years now, but the S/MH-60R Strikehawk was redesignated to S/MH-60R Seahawk (the S vs. M designation changes in every source, it seems). Here in the right foreground is a CH-60S Knighthawk on USS Bataan; I don't need to tell you what the other thing is. :)

[Edit]Here's a photo of the Seahawk-R.

We'd like to do that for the Marines, yes, but the other services will be represented, too. :)
