Kits and how to use them

Post by harrisonlake »

Hello,
How do people drop and equip kits? I only know about the ones from the spawn menu, but every time I play Insurgency, I see like five kits on the ground next to a weapon cache. I've also noticed people in videos healing, dropping their kits, equipping an enemy kit (for healing), then dropping it again to switch back to their original kit. As for sniper kits, whenever I try to use them on insurgents, I get a message saying they're not available or that I can't access that kit for some reason. How do you equip, select, and drop better kits?

Hey Harrison,
first off, do read the fine manual. Make sure you have a mic so you can ask all the friendly...players around you stuff like this. Anyway, when you spawn in you select a role out of a few standard ones. If you spawn as a rifleman you can switch kits right away from the cache, a crate or half crate or sometimes lying around your main base (if insurgent). When doing this you get a few more options to choose from, with limitations being, the # of ppl in your sqd, if anyone else has it already in your squad or its a limited kit and only a few available to the team at the same time. Not sure about keys as mine may be rebound but try look at the crate and "T" +RMB. G (for me) switches kits from yours to one close to you. You can only hold an enemy kit for about 10 seconds, if you dont drop it or pick up a friendly kit you will die. T+RBC then G (I think) lets you drop your kit. There are times you cant drop your kit, "please wait a few seconds'...then you are stuffed if you cant 'G" to swop kits.
A bit of a ramble but good luck out there.

Awlright, you get the full run down. I will teach you how to use unlimited ammo against the enemy and the logistics of that.

Maximum Firepower Available, Assets from FOBs and tanks working together to traumatize the enemy.

6 FOBs available, 3 FOBs can share 3 TOW + 3 AA + 6 HMG + 2 mortar + 30 foxholes + support by Tank + APC + IFV + logistics supply/repair + jeeps +trans trucks + heli trans + CAS + UAV..All scanning aggressively, 2 men per armor, 1 man per ground asset. Kits 1 HAT + 2 AA + 2 sniper + 2 combat engineer + 3 marksmen + 3 Machine gunners + 4 LAT + 4 AR + 4 grenadier

NOW THATS A LOT OF FIREPOWER AND THERMAL ASSETS. I LIKE IT A LOT. Very scary for enemy to even try to look at your line too wide to attack

Your best advantage is your WHOLE TEAM defending ONLY the LAST FLAG from the START OF THE ROUND, 1 squad per widest build perimeter super FOB equals 1 area attack per partial super FOB.

1 man per FOB asset or foxhole, not every FOXHOLE will have a man but every FOXHOLE should be build to space, widen, give cover where none is, bait, extra target for enemy scanning/target discernment, TOW background drop to hide its weapon outline, shield crates, mortar and act as empty decoy for FOB emplacements. Many uses.

Drop 3 super FOB and a mortar FOB at the same time out the gate of main surrounding last flag in view of each other, some maps and layouts last flags are better and more terrain advantageous than others.

Your last flag is the only place you can mutually have time to build all this before enemy comes, ONLY TIME you can build comfortably is START OF THE ROUND AT YOUR LAST FLAG.

Troll the enemy by never showing up to any other flag, then they think they have advantage until 3 TOW missiles and 3 AA positions fires 6 missiles as extra unguided rockets fly their way along with 6 FOB heavy machine guns (HMGs) plus jeeps and any APCs or tanks you start with.

You can have 6 FOBs for one flag this way with everyone defending. 3 super FOBs, 1 mortar FOB, DOD edge FOBs enemy can't come from behind on, then main base as a back up spawn with your teams vehicles.

Everything enemy has like Heli, tanks, APCs has to go far to run into being outnumbered and outgunned, then RTB if they survive.

Enemy UAV loses more fuel to travel to look at your last flag, your teams UAV comes from main base close to your last flag, more scanning time. Many benefits aside from firepower, security, teamwork and satisfaction of putting fear into enemy in a video game.

Constant suppression from all assets into the view distance until you see any suspect enemy peeker heads to tap or other signs of enemy, 10,000 COAX rounds on an Abrams tank for example or 2000 on a BMP, 6 HMGs, jeeps.

50 men making a bullet storm of preventative pre-fire enemy can't come through on. Scanning aggressively for anything suspect while suppressing deep through view distance just cresting over cover, through bushes, gaps in forest. You suppress all directions, enemy is only on the ground 1 out of 360 degrees around you, you make them think they were seen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kits

Friendly medium and heavy crates, back of APCs/half tracks, repair stations you can get any kit if it is available, hold T to get to Kit Request/Drop Kit, left and right of the / represents Left mouse button and Right mouse button everywhere in game.

Iraqi insurgents only get special kits in their main base with special kit ground models, other insurgent factions at times on certain maps have special kits in their main base.

You can check all the squads and learn the symbols for the kits you want to see if it is in use, maximum amount of kits available depends on amount of players.

The drop kit function has many uses, its actually a invisible kit that is just everything unarmed, its invisible. You can drop your medic kit by what you want to dig, get a shovel then you have 2 kits, drop kit and run to get a 2nd kit.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Tactics

You can also use this Dropped kit function to play dead by putting your hands up and laying down, this will appear to everyone else as hands on your head laying down and looking up or down bends your torso up and down, so you want your view level or downward with your head hidden inside of a body, crate, FOB, obstacle or anything to look actually dead.

Calculate when to play dead before enemy sees you, so when you hear enemy and when everyone is getting wiped or you are alone, watch and listen for enemy location as they walk around you. Best weapons are grenades, pistol and knife. Many video examples of playing dead. Better done in open area edges and not inside, urban areas, use a bush otherwise to just fire and run like normal.

You can also climb trees with a rope, a few times I have put my whole squad up trees to defend a flag. Great way to troll the enemy, they will actually have to say "they are in the trees". Only 2 types of trees have branches to sit on, you can shoot a branch or rope test it as a platform.
1 Man per piece of cover, Move cover to cover. In view of each other to save each other by shooting, distraction, division of enemy attention and ammo. 1 man hit per RPG/tank shell/mortar spread formation full time. Edge of cap zone. Use camouflage, police up each others exposure, no man seen sticking out. Scan aggressively with eyes and ears for anything suspect, even for birds disturbed to fly out of trees
