Where to shoot? Donde disparar

Post by Grump/Gump.45 »

Enemy is somewhere on the ground, potentially on any bearing 360 degrees around, moving beyond the view distance fog or between you and the view distance behind some terrain.

You see lots of "random shooting in combat footage", but its really "Combat Techniques of Fire", suppression, grazing fire, plunging fire, recon by fire, pre-fire. Each with its own effect, method, purpose and output volume.

List of places enemy peeks from, Areas of Cover and Concealment to Suppress.
1. Corners
2. Windows
3. Under Tables
4. Catwalks
5. Holes in fences
6. Bushes
7. Trees
8. Grassy Areas
9. Micro terrain (6 inches(15 cm) in height) defilade dips in the ground
10. Eye level with their cover and target zone
11. Shooting over fences by standing on things
12. Roof Tops
13. Shadows
14. Back of rooms
15. Tree tops
16. Tree lines behind the branches
17. A mix of any of these
18. Behind desert berms

Recon by fire, probing fire as I call it makes the enemy think you know they are there, or they respond impulsively giving away their position. You are giving away yours in the process of firing but you are already looking and shooting all directions you could get shot from, ready, expecting it.

Grazing fire is aimed height of a man, could be area target, point target, sweep it, move it up and down.

Pre-fire is shooting before you need to, clearing fire. Use it in close combat or long range combat

Suppression, put it everywhere there isn't friendly. Fire just over terrain into view distance, height of a man.

Its always a good time to practice aim on trees or the gaps in between to send round deep. Scanning fire. Apply to all assets.

For armor, enemy hides when they see you, fire into areas that appear empty while listening for enemy armor, bait enemy armor, fall back, hide, ambush when they appear. The coax is for scaring the LAT/HAT with pre-fire, buys you time to look another direction if you sent rounds near them. 10,000 COAX on Abrams, 4000 on Sherman
1 Man per piece of cover, Move cover to cover. In view of each other to save each other by shooting, distraction, division of enemy attention and ammo. 1 man hit per RPG/tank shell/mortar spread formation full time. Edge of cap zone. Use camouflage, police up each others exposure, no man seen sticking out. Scan aggressively with eyes and ears for anything suspect, even for birds disturbed to fly out of trees
