USMC Chopper
Since the British are getting the Merlin helicopter could the USMC get their proper helicopter (not this release obviously). I read that the Blackhawk is used for the NAVY and that the Sea Stallion is used for medium USMC transport. I figure that non carrier based maps get the Sea Stallion, and carrier maps get the blackhawk. The Sea Stallion holds 34 troops, so you can adjust that for the game, and its armourment is 2 .50 cal door mounted machine guns. Just an idea to liven the choppers up a bit.

I'm not requesting or ordering the devs to do anything. I'm just suggesting something. I don't care if they ever do it or if it is released in their final patch. Sorry to offend anyone.dunkellic wrote:was once already requested and pleeeaaase stop requesting stuff so much - i think the devs are quite sick of it by now....

it´s not that they dont like suggestions, it just after the 0.4 release we had basically a bazillion request for this model or that model - let the devs sort out all of the problems first and the 0.5 release, also let them finish the british army
then we should start making suggestions/requests for vehicles because right now, gameplay issues are much more important than new vehicles
(also, anyone noticed that only us stuff gets requested, nothing chinese or mec..)

We are well aware of who uses what and this has been suggested many times before (please do a search), including by yourself in another thread, recently. It's a possibility.Bodybag2224 wrote:Since the British are getting the Merlin helicopter could the USMC get their proper helicopter (not this release obviously). One thing does bother me though.....how many troops can a real Black Hawk carry? ATM the PR one can hold 1pilot,2gunners and 4 passengers. Thats 7. I bet its somehing like 11 troops into battle. More space can be implemented. There is the passenger seat for a start. Then, there is the space in the middle of the Black Hawk. And about 3 seats in the back that are unused, except for a box. but who cares about a minor cliping error that no one will ever see?
HOLD you're horses though. Dont add these seats until shes faster and more manouverable.
What about rope insertions. I know this has been knocked around 1000000000times but is it possible with the engine?
A pall and I were trying for about 20mins to get a graplinhook onto a BH. No sucsess. Maybe a rightclick(while in the passenger seat) allows you to slide in by rope? or maybe a whole new passenger spot would have to be created
.
oh well, its just and idea.

No, more space cannot be implemented because of the gem that is the Battlefield 2 engine, which only allows 8 seats per collision mesh.Mongolian_dude wrote:One thing does bother me though.....how many troops can a real Black Hawk carry? Nope, the Marines don't operate the Chinook, though they may hitch a ride in them sometimes. They use smaller tandem rotor helicopter, the CH-46E Sea Knight, which is due to be phased out in a few years. The Navy has replaced theirs with the MH-60S Knighthawk and the Marines will replace theirs with the MV-22 Osprey.Blackhawk 5 wrote:Blackhawks are nic, however i believe marines use Chinooks and cobras, only 2 helis i know hey use.
The only Blackhawk variant the Marines operate is the VH-60N for presidential transport, but as said before, they will hitch rides with the USAF Pavehawks, US Army Blackhawks and US Navy Seahawks.
