Show some love for the drivers

Post by <<SpanishSurfer>> »

PR team I just read some of the fixes you fellas are implementing into the next update and I'm loving the ideas. Taking the TOW missile off the APC/BMP will change it from tank/infantry killer to infantry killer/transporter. I think that will be a really good move. I do have a suggestion that I have not read about.

How about showing some love to the drivers of cars, blackhawks, and now the spawn point apcs. Is it possible to give a point every time someone picks someone and another point when he drops them off in any vehicle (Make some sort of delay to avoid spamming.) I'm not the expert on the engine you guys are. But a system to award drivers would really encourage more teamwork.

Just a thought.

I think you do get points for transporting.
You did in 'nilla and I'm pretty sure I got a ribbon or something one game for transporting people.

You're right.
In Vanilla, you get Driver Assistance Points when the passengers make points (healing, giving ammo, shooting).
It's probably the same in PR.

there's no point rewarding drivers with points when this mod is about the team not the individual and with the individual score sheet soon to go

that's nice, but I like to see my score, even if only at the end.
Call me shallow but I like to rank up in the top 5 at the end of a game and I really like it when I command and get first place.

$kelet0r don't spiral my thread off the topic.
I realize you get points for ammo, medic, and the gunner when he takes people out. In PR though I've noticed that some guys (including myself) will shuttle people to the front lines the entire game via car, heli, boat, etc only to seem insignificant when the game is over and the scores are seen. An award system should be created for those people who are spending a lot of time shuttling troops to the battle. It would encourage more people to act as transporters.

i agree.

i was playing mutura and there were about 3 little bird pilots who were dedicatingly shuttling players from carrier to city roofs non-stop the whole round. They barely got any points for it, I felt a little guilty as i was sniping away with the m4 from the top of the water tank where one dropped me.

This game isn't about points. I've played many rounds with various people dedicated to flying the LB around for our squad. While they hardly get any points at all, they are an extremely valuable asset to the team and their help is much appreciated. I think they enjoy flying as well. Points are nothing in PR...

Hell, I don't fly, and I don't get good scores much. But I consider myself to be a semi-valuable asset to the team as a meat shield. I always die first.

Look, we can debate all day on how it doesn't matter about the points but lets be realistic, for a lot of PR players it is about the points. They want to see their names in the top 5. I just think an award system for those people who act as transporters should be in order, that is, if it's feasible.

I don't mind the score. As long as I do perfect dust-offs and get my crew of six safely on top of a roof or a CP I'm happy. You can't beat the rush of touching down for .5 seconds, have a couple of rockets miss you and leave the scene with MG tracers trailing behind you! I usually end up having a total global score of no more than 30pts when I do transport pilot duties but theres a lotta fun in it when you' know you've helped your team win by knowing who to transport and where to transport them to.

one thing to keep in mind though: if piloting gave you lots of points, all the 'point whores' would now try to be pilots.... and already we have an extremely scarce supply of pilots who know what the hell they are doing hehehe

IMO we have to appeal to more flight sim pilots, and less point whores, in order to make the helicopters and jets act in realistic ways.

I just find it really fun to fly all over the place with a littlebird, don't really need any points for it :p

Though maybe for that really sluggish MEC transport chopter...it's a nightmare to fly, or atleast it is for me.

Point whores wouldn't transport if it was set up correctly. For them to get lots of points, it should require them to do the job properly. If they do the job properly, I guess that means the point whores would be doing a great service to the team!

Just make it so you get X*Y points for driving a transport where X is time and Y is number of passengers. How about for every 60 seconds you drive a vehicle, you get one point for every passenger inside?

Its a nice idea, but then again what the hell do points matter? I suppose it would be nice to have some recognision from the people who do care about points. if i see, at the end of the match, a guy with 0kills and 4 deaths, i glare on the name and think thta he was bringing down the team, win or lose lol. Maybe the points would make me think a little differently.

Points are important. And if the point system can be jigged to reinforce teamwork, what is the crime in that.?

Knife, say PR implements a reward system to pilots (Whatever it may be) and the result is more people using the choppers as taxis to transport everyone around, what's the crime in that?

We don't really have to worry about point whores that much in PR.
You might get away with it in one game but then people would know you and well....ya know what happens to people who screw around in PR.
