Construtable objects?
This means like the engineers could maybe construct certain things like fighting positions, maybe 2 man positions that you can lay down in and 50cal positions that have alternate firing spots for small arms. Also they could build small outposts or forts to create a tactical advantage. I do think it should be regulated in some way so people could not build as many as they want and get carried away with the idea. I am not sure if you guys have the capabilities to add such feature with what you got to work with but I think that would a cool feature.
Another thing I was just windering if the commander and squad features are going to be and included?; and if so to what extent?
Thanx guys; and keep up the good work.

I always had this idea from the days of team fortress classic where engineers could build turrets etc.
Mabe you could set up small rocket pods or somthing? its hard to think about it when they dont have packs to carry such stuff.
IF the soldiers finaly get bags that slow them down but carry extra gear which they can choose to drop or not then it would work.

Here is a thought that would also maybe regulate how much of what you can build as well.TerribleOne wrote:IF the soldiers finaly get bags that slow them down but carry extra gear which they can choose to drop or not then it would work.
There could be 5-ton trucks that you could take to spots on the battlefield that would be required to have to construct different things and the engineers would be the only ones who could build things. You might could set it up to where you could either build a certain number of fighting positions or maybe 1 outpost or fort per truck and you could limit the number of trucks per map. This makes it realistic in that the 5-ton trucks carry the supplies, and it also could regulate how many things can built.

yeah say your an engineer u get in the truck and then take it to somewhere you could build say a sand bag position but u cant have people going about building airfields or huge underground concrete bunkers so ud have to limit it. it would be cool if you build a defencive line like a bunker then a trench or a wall of sandbags connected to another bunker with a fifty cal and have a little underground room with health and ammo. it would probably take a while to build and its realistic cos in real life if u want to defend somethind then your gonna build defensive positions but say you could only build 2 or something.

would be very hard to implement since you would be altering the scenery not just adding props.Wolfmaster wrote:or add a small shovel to an infantry kit to dig a foxhole.
also dont think sandbags is a good idea :/ sorry but if you were attacking in such a small intense battle as what is meant for bf2. No way would you start filling up sandbags that you have in your pocket in the open.

Foxholes would be impractical in BF, no one is gonna stop that long (realistically it would take at least 10 minutes to make a good foxhole...)
Sandbags were done in DCR, they worked well, you could just sort of drop 3 or 4 meter and a half long sections of sandbags, and you could push them around into the right spot (would work well with BF2s better physics)
I'd usually put down two witha foot between em, then go find a 50 cal kit, and place the 50 cal machin gun in between um, and start shooting.
it worked pretty well.

Actually the idea I have would put the sand bags prefilled already in the truck; that way you dont have to worry about detailed things like that and still keep the objection of realism. When I was in the ARMY we would prefill the amount of sand bags we thought we would need for our fighting positions and load them on the truck. The fighting positions are just the tip of the ice berg; I hope this can lead to more team objective construction that could maintain the realism in the game play. It would be cool to build small out post or forts for a tactical advange.Wolfmaster wrote:or add a small shovel to an infantry kit to dig a foxhole.

Well the truck can have all of the supplies, wood, sanbags everything. The point of the truck is to get supplies off of them and they will be limited as to how much you can get off of them and you dont have to build right where the truck is but in the general area.BrokenArrow wrote:have some troops just carry a few sand bags, then the 'sand bag truck' lets call it, can come and resupply them with sand bags until they can create a sufficient defensive position.

how much supplies you talkinghere though?BrokenArrow wrote:thats what i mean, the troops are doing the actual building, but the truck allows them to go back and grab what they need
you might go afk for 10min. you return and the enemy has turned theere flag areas in to 50foot high castles
i see you point joking apart. and thats what was meant origioanlly i think. but the trucks have a set limit of bags and the walls should have a set height etc etc.
Trucks cannot get restocked with snadbags either imo.
