Found Basic Fear in Heart of bf2 players

I know most all of you have seen this before but.....

I was promoting PRM on PBF when this guy said his server was dead

This is what he said

"What's project reality? Is that a mod which takes away ranking status? I don't think we can do that. Most ppl want ranked don't they. Or they have the ranked switch turned on on the server search."

Well just turn it around on them. Tell them the great thing about PR is you get to have another whole set of stats in addition to your BF2 stats. So now you can check your BF2 stats and see your awards and points there, AND you can check your PR stats and check another set of awards and stats there!

People need to just consider it to be a whole separate game. If you suggested Rainbow Six 2007 (or some ****) was a sweet game to play, I don't think anyone would say "omg but wait, it won't count on my bf2 stats will it? So what's the point in playing it..."

I dont think thats true IMO. With any game there has to be some sort of goal. In CS its playing league and winning with your team. In WoW its building a character that can annihilate anything in its path. In Mario cart its trying to beat your old time. With BF2 its the ranking system which is what made the game unique compared to most other games out there. Its what drew the public. This is a BF2 mod so people kinda would like the same features. Its human nature to want competition and in my clan its who can rank up the fastest. It keeps the players motivated to keep playing. How can it deteriorate the game.. People stat padding? ok thats the one true thing. Stat padding is really retarded and players should be hung for doing it. Imo bf2 and its mods wouldnt be what it is today without the ranking system.

I hunt for points and work with my team at the same time.. Makes me try harder in game to work as a team so that we can dominate.

one of the most annoying thing in PRM is the ranking. Join server. BONG! You've just been promoted. BONG! You've just been promoted. BONG! You've just been promoted. BONG! You've just been promoted. BONG! You've just been promoted....
I think I have never come closer to having heart attacks ever before - hunting an enemy I glimpsed in silence and then out of no where I get the above. It's terrifying and incredibly annoying/distracting

I'm actually glad that vBF2 players that are critically concerned with "their" stats shy away from PR, those kind of players are point whores anyway. They for the most part aren't interested in team play nor realism.

Fortunately their K/D ratios are so horrible when they enter "our" arena they run back to momma EA/Dice's vBF2 to their trick weapons and god-kid commanders.

Teamwork is defined as: when everyone does exactly what I say.
I think you all over generalize the concern with points.
You can be a teamplayer, good squadmate and still not be a stat whore.
I never registered with ABR so I guess I don't have any real rank but I get promoted to the same rank every game.
When you scan the board and see 10 MasterSargents, 2 Lt's and a Captain out of 20 players you know that you are playing with experienced players so it does serve a useful purpose.
I like getting promoted, I like it so much I have 8 screennames that I play on a regular basis so I'm always gettting promoted and get the micro-ego boost that gives.
I think the lack of unlocks is what keeps the stat happy players away because a Major doesn't have any equipment advantage over a private in PR.

LOL! Just install the ABR client and use it for a day, this will make PR and ABR "catch up" with what your current rank is. Then you won't rank up every time you play, because you'll start with the correct rank.

Also, you guys don't have to "register with ABR" to have stats. There actually is no such registration. You automatically get stats by playing on a PR server that has ABR enabled. See: http://pr.clanpit.com/stats/46205725

Personally I like ABR, because it's an added bonus, plus it lets you see at a glance who is more experienced in the game. So when you see a private get in a chopper, you know not to get in lol.

the only exception to that rule is me and my mulitple names. I love being a private and scoring higher than the officers.

Yeah, I'm sick of that. If getting rid of all ranking will stop that then please, get rid of ti.

In PR ranking is replaced with being noticed and remembered. If you always play the same servers you notice others and learn their style. Hoping in a squad and having someone greet you who remembered you beats any score based ranking system.

Just use the ABR client for 1 day like once a month and you won't have this issue.
