Merry Christmas and PR v0.5 Update

Post by eggman »

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all PR Fans,

The team has been working very hard on PR v0.5. Yes, you heard right! Not v0.41 as we had originally planned since we’ve decided to skip a release and introduce more maps, equipment and a new revised AAS system onto the battlefield. The very first test build of PR v0.5 has been released to our group of testers a few days ago and we expect to release v0.5 in January.

PR v0.5 will include a lot more features than what was originally planned for with the scheduled release of v0.41. Here is a list of features we are currently working on to be included in the PR v0.5 release :

• Vehicle crew kits
• Pilot kits
• Officer kits
• Vehicle systems damage
(highly experimental and may be deferred to a future release)
• AT4 for US Light AT
• Land Rover
• Merlin
• 3 Type 95 variants for PLA: Type 95 w Optics, Type 95 + UGL w Optics, Type 95 w Iron Sights
• Large collection of new sound effects
• Global sound effects volume overhaul
• AAS v2
• Attack Helo audit
• Tank audit
• APC audit
• New maps to explore and to battle in

Note that when we say "audit" we mean that we've gone through the weapon systems and armor of those vehicle types and altered them to have more realistic characteristics.

Finally some eye candy for your consumption:

I reckon so.
Thanks and we look foward to new battles.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

As an American, I enjoy playing as the UK/with the UK. It's obviously a more realistic route because the US Army is the only owners of Apache.

He means in the US Armed Forces, only Army operates the AH-64. Tis a beautiful machine. Saved a lot of arses in Anaconda. But in .5 GB will have the Apache, and the USMC will retain the Super Cobra with the new Attack Helo audit.

If you know this is planned, then there's no need to keep asking. Giving the C7 models to USMC will not be done. Just wait...patience my friend.

YEA BABY!
And here I was under the impression that christmas was over...

A million thanks to the guys working on PR! THIS is almost to much.....

Can`t wait to get my hands on the stick in the allready legendary AH-64! Where do I sign up for renewal/upgrade of my flightstatus from AH-1Z to AH-64???

Since this is (I presume!) the British version, the WAH-64, I picked up this info on Boeings homepage for you. The info is rather old: May 04, 1998, but it says a little bit on the background for the WAH-64 project..;

" The British Ministry of Defence has ordered 67 new WAH-64 Apaches with Longbow fire control radars and RTM 322 engines. GKN Westland Helicopters, Ltd., of Yeovil, England, is the prime contractor. Boeing and Rolls-Royce-Turbomeca are major subcontractors on the program.

While assemblers work on the newest member of the Apache family, testing is continuing on the WAH-64's new engine, the RTM 322, produced by Rolls-Royce and Turbomeca. Ground run-up testing is demonstrating the compatibility of the RTM 322 engine with the AH-64D Apache. To date, approximately five hours of ground testing have been completed.

Other integration work under way in Mesa includes the addition of a new GEC Marconi Defensive Aids Suite (DAS) for the WAH-64. The GEC DAS will replace much of the current U.S. Army's aircraft survivability equipment on board the Apache.

As a subcontractor to GKN Westland, Boeing is building eight aircraft and will partially assemble the remaining 59 WAH-64 Apache aircraft at its Mesa facility. Final assembly, flight test, delivery and support for these aircraft will take place at GKN Westland's Yeovil facility.

First production flight of the WAH-64 Apache is expected to take place this year in late August or early September, with first deliveries to GKN Westland beginning in late September. First deliveries from GKN Westland to the Ministry of Defence will begin in 2000.

The WAH-64 Apache is a derivative of the U.S. Army's AH-64D Apache Longbow, the next-generation version of the combat-proven AH-64A Apache. The WAH-64 incorporates a series of enhancements that make it more effective in combat, and more survivable, deployable and maintainable in the field. The WAH-64's fire control radar and advanced avionics suite give combat pilots the ability to rapidly detect, classify, prioritize and engage stationary or moving enemy targets at standoff ranges in nearly all weather environments.

The WAH-64's ability to communicate digitally with other aircraft and ground forces, and to share that information almost instantly, also gives it a significant warfighting advantage over current combat helicopters."

There you have it!
