Map Idea Inspired by "The Rock"

Post by Maistros »

I was watching "The Rock" last night and thought it would make an awesome map for PR. Someone should make an Alcatraz map. Have a terrorist faction and a US team battle it out for control of the rock.

There was one for a UT realism mod once, it was really cool. It was in assault mode and you had to break in and destroy the scud launchers at the top. Really cool fighting through the courtyards, walls, cells and guards quarters.

Theres not a whole load of objects that would suit an Alcatraz map.

I know that. It would take a lot of work and would require a lot of custom built objects but just imagine the outcome. As if PR weren't the best mod around, it would seriously make it into an unstoppable, unbeatable mod.

I mean, don't get me wrong here but if we keep using the same models and statics no matter how you arrange them, they'll still be the same models and statics. New things will have to be introduced to keep it fresh and unpredictable.

There was already an Alcatraz map about 1 year ago, it was part of a mappack on Totalbf2.

Yeah, I played a little on the Alcatraz map. It is OK but very linear (steep cliffs). PR should look through the TotalBF2 packs for maps though, some are decent.

That alcatraz map doesn't look good at all. I mean more to scale, and less dwarfed. Custom structures that you can go inside, and not just the stock bf2 buildings.

Shotgun playing renegade marines. We all know the assault force gets massacured. Seriously, there would be so few entrance points and they'd be so easy to defend the attacking force would have virtually no chance of being sucessful.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Not if you added grappling hooks and ledges, and windows

That map is in WCC isn't it? The AI on that map is pretty good.

I was just watching that the other night as well, awesome movie. Only problem with indoor areas in BF2 is they don't work that great, a little lag and hitbox issues really screw up indoor areas. I'd love to see the devs pull it off though.

Why not have like a black ops version of the Marines vs US Navy SEALs instead of the terrorists cuz that's how the movie goes.

They weren't marines, more like ex-marines/mercenaries. SEALS vs world mercenaries? :S

OK, that gives me an idea:

A mix of renegade British, American, Chinese and Middle Eastern soldiers (Complete with thier respective weapons) as the "enemy" force verses a unit of elite US soldiers.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I don't like the movie The Rock, I don't like the Wrestler, and I kinda don't like the idea.
