Pistol Damage???
I think that the pistols damage should be upped a lot more then what they are now. The realistic damage for the pistol is non existence. It's pretty hard to kill someone with a pistol especially if you are a sniper, because that's the side weapon that you most depend on. Since the pistol is limited to certain classes, it makes some classes crappy like Heavy AT and Sniper class. Now, I'm not saying that these classes are ****, I'm just saying that the pistol needs a new sound and damage. 3 shots from a pistol should be able to kill. Honestly, I haven't killed with the pistol yet in 3 months of playing P.R.

I kill with the pistol all the time. If I know where he is before he knows where I am, and we're at medium range, he won't get a single shot on me.
IRL, a body shot with a pistol on somebody with body armor is not going to kill them. It'll barely slow them down.

Well, sometime there's that blood-but-no-damage bug. But if this is a consistent problem, then you're right. There needs to be more damage for headshots.

I think they need a little more DMG, not a huge change. To light armoured INF it should be 1shot kill to the head. To headvy armoured INF, 2shots(to account for the extra armour....or what not. Or how about just 1 shot to everyone, providing its in the FACE. 2 for a helmet kills.
Also, up the recoil with the pistols, so its harder to fire like a fully automatic pistol. Yeah, heavyer sounds too.

It would be nice to see an improvement in pistols damage, but then again a 9mm pistol against a body armor -> pretty poor chances for the pistol. So I don't think it would be that realistic if pistols would kill from like 3 shots to the chest.

I know that BF2 has a velocity system for bullets, so I ask whether it would be possible to make it so pistol power really drops off after around 50m, but under that range they're pretty effective against unarmoured targets, but they should be rubbish against anyone in body armour (unless of course an armoured part is hit, like the arms of face).
Oh, and for you people who insist one should never attend a shoot out with a weapon that fires a round which dosent start .4, those rounds are equally unsuitable for the modern battlefield (probubly even more so, due to thier added bulk and weight) as the 9mm para. The future in military pistols is in the SS190, 4.6x30, 7N31, SP-10 and other rounds of thier type.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

The pistols are fine. I get kills with them all the time. The difference of an assault rifle and a pistol should be large....just like they are. To get a pistol kill, you must certainly get the drop on someone.
Heavy AT kicks major butt if you have ammo near... who need the pistol... I'll take out your squad with one shot.

I find i can get kills with the pistol fairly easily, as i used to play AT a lot in Vanilla heavy AT i find a pleasure to play. When you only have a pistol you learn how to use it, and i find field of vision is great even with Ironsights.
As an AT your job is not to die to infantryfire, no, more than that... not to expose yourself at all to infantry fire and let your squad spot the tank. To that end a quiet weapon - knife/pistol is just the ticket for some stealthy self-defence. You aren't looking to assault a flag or repel a major attack with it. You should be retreating behind your frontline infantry if this is the order of the day. Get your SL to nominate you a permanent rifleman "buddy" too. That can act as "defender" as well as "ammo-buddy".
Mongol is right though, a more noisy pistol would be preferable. Silencers for AT-class... nope, for SF. Yes. When SF M4 gets fixed perhaps pistols used silently would be more the order of the day for a SF operative in a squad. If it increases their effectiveness as a recon element, thats just what i need when leading a squad.

Well if the Man is wearing Body Armor then the guy should go all fuzzy n coughin and no sprint. Thats how it works, when you have body armor, at least with the Police ones, dunno about the Ballistic plates, you will probably break a rib and at LEAST have a bigassed bruise. If the target isnt wearin bodyarmor then the bullet should hurt them just as much, if not more, as the M16. With the Range these fights are at the M16 isnt even doing as much damage as they could possibly do.

If you have good body armor 9mm bullets from pistols aren't really going to hurt you. Check out the facts on the LA bank robbery (can't remember when) theres also the movie 44 minutes about it. You can even find some live footage from the internet. The robbers had just good kevlar armor, and the police couldn't do anything to them.
