capturing flags from within vehicles

Post by YoMo »

(this isn't a copy from another thread where it was mentioned, but something I had thought of before reading it)

How about not being able to capture flags from within vehicles. After all it would be pretty hard to raise a flag when you're piloting a helicopter and such. Also this would bring the vehicles back to their support role, where they should be IMO.

I personally think that you should have to run up to the flag and press and hold 'use'.

then an animation could hoist up the flag.

Would stop tanks, helis and anything else including people hiding behind a wall waiting for you while they magically capture the flag.

mind you though, when you need to actually capture the flag by standing right next to it, you'll be a dead easy target for the defenders of that flag.

Just like in real life if you had to capture flags.

your team would have to cover you while you capture it.

it would help get rid of the one man army complex. instead of one person hideing in a building captureing the flag it would have to be a group of people covering has one person captures the flag

but is it even possable to make the flag be captured like that?

i doubt youll have to hold use to raise the flag, i dont think youd be able to put that in. also remember it doesnt really matter if the flag goes up, what matters is that your team holds the ground.

i think that if you and your squad get to a capture point and there are no enemies around, the point should be automatically yours.

if there are enemies around and there is a battle going on around the flag, the flag should go to white, since it is being contested. after the skirmish it should go to whichever team is still there automatically.

you can imitate the effect of actually raising the flag by making the capture radius very small. This would be a good compromise as it adds to realism (you need to be near the flag to raise it) and gameplay (you're not entirely a sitting duck as you can return fire).
