This exact topic has come up before.

Horrible idea. This idea has no merit in the PR game. Nobody will play that class if it were ever introduced, and there would be no point. I remember everyone wanting to be anti-personnel rifleman when it was first introduced; this idea will have even fewer takers.

Please stop the crazy-stupid ideas.

A stupid-crazy idea would be having an Elvis class look a like...

This is more of a Reality around the reality in the game. As yes this kind of class is pretty much useless in a pub game. But around the actual battle ? he can make some pretty darn neat vids (and actually deserve a lot of praise for being in the right spot, rather then a perfect and long shot of the sky ...

I think this would work wonderfully in the Tournement in fact rather then pubs. As we can't have BR running due to lag issues. This would be a wonderfull way for non-tourney people to see what a battle can be when a bit of tactics and teamwork are put together ... pretty freaking awesome ... as for me its about the same difference between vBF2 and PR.

We have had lots of moments during matches wich would have made pretty wild intro movies for PR without even having needed to be staged ;)

If you want to record in game shit, use fraps. You know when you state that it's a crazy idea, that right there should be enough to tell yourself it aint gonna happen.

Love it

Makes me think of Spy Game.

And make it where you CAN shoot him. A battlefield is dangerous. You think they dont get shot at in real life... (IRL...)?

Think of the boost in publicity! Youve got one or two cameramen on each side, maybe make it a limited class, just one? Youve got him running around up at the front with all the soldiers, or at a staging zone. Yeah, you could just print screen, but the cameramans lens effects could be programmed into it...maybe not... But, with all the grain, maybe a little dust/scratches.
PR would prolly be the only mod/war game to implement something this realistic. A war game that strethces out from the confines of rifles and tanks? Love it.

I loved being a medic in vBF2, just so I could run around and help keep guys alive, yeah, I shot people, and was pretty good, but you dont always need to kill poeple in the game to enjoy it, i think there would be plenty of takers.

Just think, we could even add a USO show that is way behind the front line!!! You could have like... Green Day come and play "american idiot" or something.. (oh god, im kidding, please dont shoot me)

But really, I think its a reat idea, but, I do agree that many other things should have priory...but it would be amazing. and I'd love to be the cam,era guy.

Exactly. Also, even if it is played, what if the guy just takes advantage that he's a cameraman in order to advance behind enemy lines without getting shot, and then just swapping his kits with a dead guy?

I remember everyone wanting to be anti-personnel rifleman when it was first introduced; this idea will have even fewer takers.

This is such a terrible idea.

Let this thread die with the little dignity it has left.

I would love to play the guy lol.

voice commands:

"Iv been shot! Im bleeding!"

"Dont shoot!"

"dont Look at the Camera!"

"Say Cheese!"

"Im not a soldier!"
"Look like your fighting!"

"I surrender!"

Kit: (total of 2 camra per match)

-TV camera
-Microphone
-Field dressing
-heavily armoured

This allows one reporter and TV crew.

This class cannot drive viechles(For the exception of civilian cars, motorcycles, ect) but can be passenger to them.
On picking up a combat kit, the player recievs a message in server messages "[PR]Big-chief, you have 5 seconds to comply". After 5 seconds, he will die.
The same goes for a combatant picking up a TV crew kit.

The penalty for killing the TV crew is -45points and +10 seconds to respawn for the next respawn only. This applies to all sides.

This would add as much realism as it would take away, but add more fun to the game. You could film the Insurgent forces perrading dead 'infadels' around the city, for Algazirah TV. You could review life on the front line, next to british troops, for the BBC news. You could film American special forces clearing a building from the seat of a Black Hawk. You could create propaganda fotage of the chinese people's army, storming an enemy MG implacement.

FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this would be a great addition for version 1.5 or so but right now it's a little over the top.

Waste of time and effort IMO. This should be the last thing anyone's worried about for PR...

I can't believe how many people are backing this idea!

If you are going to model a tv reporter and camera crew can you do them in the style of Ron Burgundy and his channel 4 news team.

I dont get it ?

What possible use would this class have ? it wont be good for rushing flags or covering your squads rear.

Not good, doesnt get my vote, sorry....

Reality has been reached.

Post by OkitaMakoto »

Haha Ron Burgundy, that would be awesome. I like the "Act like youre fighting"
I think we all relize that this shouldnt be in .5 or really even 1.0, but come on, theres only so many weapon/vehicle/combatant tweaks you can make until it would be nice to add in some non combat positions.

This could be such a large game. Add in players to be the wives and girlfriends of military members, telephones at uncapables so they can talk to eachother, and..and... we could have drill sergeants and chefs and instructors... and we could even toss in other crazy stuff that I'm too unoriginal to think of...

think of the publicity:
"No longer does a PR soldier only have to deal with the pressure of 7.62 rounds flying over his head; now he has to wonder whether or not his girlfriend back in the States is cheating on him with the highschool class pacifist. Reality has been reached."

or maybe not...

Well, most of the stuff you suggested you can do with editing software, and I don't think BF2 supports depth of field.

Well, if it's thought to be added... All I would want is something to replace the weapon with a blank so it doesn't show up on screen, and are able to have 3 types of these tools.

1st invisible tool zooms in 1x
2nd 2x
3rd 3x

You would be able to switch between the diff tools and pick how much you want to zoom in.

If a camera man gets killed he does not respawn because there are a limited number of reporters willing to be embedded. So instead that user gets banned from the server never to return again.
