Is this already in BF2/PR?
Take a look at this:

Subconciously i've always been thinking like this when playing AT. I'm not sure though if this only applied to PoE and was a PoE feature or a vBF2 feature. Although right now with the relatively weak tanks it is hard to tell. So yeah...
If it isn't. Well....it seems awesome. To say the least.
P.S: It's about angle of entry. How hitting something @ 90 degrees will dish out more damage than at a more acute angle.

He's not talking about different damage locations, he's talking about impact angles:'[R-DEV wrote:Rhino']umm ye it is in vBF2... why do you think that there are such things as 1 hit kill spots on tanks in vBF2.
"Projectile angle is key to tank combat. Example below.
A direct hit at 90 degree angle will dish out 100% of its potental damage.
While a projectile hitting at a 45 degree angle will "deflect" and only dish out around 45-50% of its potental damage."

yes, you need to use them for the 1 hit kill in vBF2. You have to bounce the shell off the front of the tank, into the turret which counts as 2 hits in the BF2 engine effectively destroying or very nearly killing the tank. If you get it just right you can instantly kill the tank but its very hard and a small spot.MMad wrote:He's not talking about different damage locations, he's talking about impact angles:

that info is only useful if you are a)designing an AT projectile from scratch or are going at it with a can opener.......which wouldn't be good.
All modern heavy AT systems can penetrate all known types of armour and more often than not exceed the armour thickness of a modern MBT to combat this consideration. Even with ERA and such, as most are tandem warhead systems, even when hitting the strongest part of a tank (frontal).
Light AT are another matter. However, angles of penetration and impact will really have no effect on say an RPG7/9 against an Abrams or Warrior or Chally. You are talking about a slim to none chance regarding the type of AT system used (and this would include the minority) and a lightly armoured vehicle.
All in all, not worth the effort at all compared to the real-world consideration you would realistically spend on considering this factor. If it was WW2 it'd be a different matter.

Are you sure that’s what they are talking about? I know that projectile angle can be the key to tank combat in real life but the illustration in that thread link is not exactly that. It looks like it has damage based on the section hit, not hit angle. The PR players who creep around APC’s now to fire a rocket up its arse for one shot kills know about this effect already.

WRONG!superdj wrote:Oh, hit boxes? Ithink that's what those are and is very helpful to know where to put your rocket. Tracks = most damage=
its the tail bit at the back
usually there oil/fuel drums at the back but that general area is a 1-shot kill
