Squad Leader -> Commander VOIP
Is it possible to tweak how the VOIP works?
Since the commander is becoming more and more obsolete, as squad leaders take more responsibility of the overall tactics, could the voip be tweaked so that the default button for communicating with commander would be used to communicate between Squad Leaders?
This would ease the commander's job as well, because he wouldn't have to relay messages between SL's in a pinch, and concentrate on whats important. Overall tactical deployment.

I don't think the commander should have less work. Would only encourage him to rush to the flags because he wouldn't have that much to do. As I see it the commander should just go prone under some tree on the corner of the map and lead all of the squads etc and not go all rambo and end up getting killed.
But having a DIFFERENT button for communicating with squad leaders would also be good, (though I'm pretty sure this can't be done) but the SLs definitely need to have the ability to stay in touch with the commander.

I dunno, he may have a point, I've all but given up going commander. You try your hardest to coordinate squads but you get one SL, maybe two if your lucky that actually listens to you.
Other times, when I'm SL, the commander never says a word to me....so really, what is the point in a redundant commander?

As i see it the commander is the only one who needs to decide if i.e. 2 squad leaders should be able to communicate together.
This would not only be realistic in term of Real Life command decision-making, but also illustrate the different radio frequencies available in a RL platoon unit.
When it comes to commanding in PR i think it would give the commander more flexibility in any organizing of the battle, when he/she can put several squad leaders in 1 channel together.

Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

yeah, basically, that´s what´s perhaps lacking the most, in concern of communication - right now the best possiblity is simply to type "ALPHA IS GOING TO ATTACK - BRAVO PLS DEFEND", or, if you´re lucky and there is a commander to ask him over voip to tell the other squads what you´re going to do.
but if i as squadleader could tell the other squadleader exactly what i´m planning, that would be just awesome

The commander should be the transfer point for comms between squads.
I try to remind the SL that I will relay any info to another SL.
The Dev's have said there are new tweaks to the CO's position so we have to wait and see.

CO is vital. IN real proper pub games as a SL my brain is racked, to put it simply. SL's have to plan and fight to a degre squad member never has to and the CO relieves SL's of some of the thinking, i dont have time to explain to all the other SL's what i am doing, controllign my "Class" (often like teaching) is enough!
A SL to SL channel would be nice BUT is far from necessary, a channel that communicates all voip to every one in 10m would be far more usefull.
PS> Armed drunk and FUzz - when do you nomraly play and on what serverrs - never seen you!

I rarely play as AD&A, it's usually (3FJ)Armin or **Stems and Seed**.
But its the low ping, players and map that make my intial choice.
I don't really care for EJOD and that usually gets me to switch servers.
But even if the CO doesn't get much feedback from SL I feel that giving a constant stream of enemy positions is very helpful.
