AH-6 'Little Bird'

Post by Scoggs117 »

I was wondering if you could implement this multi-mission helicopter.

Also another cool idea would be...

You take off from carrier w/ planks and are carring six soldiers Blackhawk Down Styke... drop them off at LZ then...

Return to carrier land, sit in a special place and change loadout to 2 miniguns and rockets and return to provie air support... sounds like fun to me

Read up on it here.

oo just reat it can carry two MK19 40mm automatic grenade launchers!!!

I'd actually prefer the troop carrier version with out side seating, imagine having it be used as a sniper support chopper, and having a sniper on each side, and with PR being realistic, where it wont take several shots to kill someone, that could be quite effective.

If you could hit someone with a sniper rifle from a helicopter in real life, props to you

If you guys want any advisory on how this helo handles, or intracite details on the cockpit, just ask.

Shooting a sniper rifle with pin point accuracy is a task not many can do. Now, hitting a moving target from a moving vehicle with a semi-automatic or bolt action rifle is damn near impossible. Even if the helicopter was hovering you'd still have a minimal chance of hitting anything for numerous reasons. What you saw in Blackhawk down and such was Hollywood. I don't care how good Delta Force is, they wouldn't be able to pull that off. Sorry, not trying to flame you Tactical, just trying to make sure you know that's primarily a Hollywood thing.

Now, as for the AH-6...it would be a lovely addition to the game. Having several weapon variants would also be lovely to choose from, for whatever purpose is needed; rocket pods-- light armor vehicle destruction, dual mini-gun config -- infantry supression/destruction, and of course, the infantry carrying ability...amongst others configurations also.

Not just Hollywood or SFOD-D, Medicoris.

i suggest you read the actual book by mark bowden, they do infact snipe from their choppers before going in to bravely attempt to rescue the downed pilot. to give you an idea of how good delta force snipers are, they are second only to secret service snipers, who get the cream of the crop as far as snipers go.

Oh yeah and i forgot that coast guard anti drug choppers use snipers to take out engines off drug running speed boats.

Gazelle isn't just used by the UK, it's a very widely used helo; almost as ubiquitous as the venerable Huey. Syria has a couple of squadrons, as did Iraq, and China has a small squadron of them (they comprised the PLA's first dedicated attack helo squadron).

Oddly enough, I don't think the Gazelle has filled the armed scout/light-attack role for the UK since the Falklands. After that war, when they were actually armed, I had only seen photos with a GPMG jury-rigged in each passenger door or a trooper with a rifle. In the Falklands, they carried rocket pods, but I'm not sure why they stopped that practice. Any UK servicepeople who can clarify and/or verify?

That's correct, BrokenArrow. Their Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON) does that with Barrett rifles and 7.62mm and .50 caliber MGs from this sporty bird, the MH-68A Stingray (Agusta A109 Power). Granted, those cigarette boats a bigger target than a human being.

i saw them in a drill doing it on tv, pretty cool stuff, i wonder how many engines they have to shoot out, i think getting a few strings of SAW fire accross a drug runners bow would get them to call it a day, nevermind starring down the barrell of a .50 cal barrett

Keep in mind that the Little Bird is a slow but highly manuverable chopper, so it being used as a sniper platform may actually work fairly well... And in the actual event Black Hawk Down(not the movie) they did have snipers in choppers, remember the 2 guys that repelled in to protect the downed chopper crew. Those were snipers, not sure what weapon they used, but I pressume with that situation an M4 with scope.

i doubt they woulve used "scopes" cause looking thru a zoom while in a moving vehicles might make you sick in, like in BHD im guessing they used aimpoint type scopes that dont zoom all that much
