please eliminate in game scores
Please...I think its time to eliminate the ingame score...lately I see more people caring about his killing rate more than team playing....also the sniper scoring have to be decreased...Its sad to see veteran players fighting for getting a sniper kit ....we call the sniper kit like the evil ring of the lord of the rings ....everybody is tempted to use it...
lock me if you want I know this have been said thousands times before...but personal scores are still a poison for team playing..
maybe a solution will be eliminate the personal scores and divide the squad score between the members of the squad

I think it should be stuck in the next release to test the waters, score and stats are the root of all evil. I think it would damage the player base, but only in the sense that all the smacktards would stop playing. Theory being we would just be left with the truly dedicated players that play for a team rather than indivual score.

I like to look at stats, that's why I play so many different names and styles but I am on the side of eliminating the ingame score totally.
1 team wins and the other loses..... no other details available.
I think downtown has it pegged, put it up for a week on a few servers and see what happens.
I know I will play a " no score " server a lot more.

My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

im for removing the ingame scrores and just display the loading between map scores
"It's every man's dream to hear that beer and pizza can prevent cancer," he said. "However, the 17 beers and four large pizzas needed to get enough xanthohumol and lycopene to help prevent prostate cancer is unfortunately not advised."

Personal score also eliminates, or atleast minimizes, the need to use suppressive fire, flanking manouvers and much more - as there's no point when you can just press tab and confirm a "target down".
And it's pretty much impossible to disengage from contact when the enemy knows where you are, and whether you're dead or alive by simply checking the scoreboard.
It's all about the unknow. I belive firefights could get more dynamic with the removal of personal killcount/score ingame.
That's just how I feel about it.

the teamwork ladder score its the one that have to be seen at the end of round ....thats the data we are have to be worried about....killing have not to be the primary goal...teamwork yes...other information could be interesting at the end of the round...quantity ammunition used, global killing for both teams...vehicles destroyed...spotted enemies, soldiers revived, etc

My suggestion:
(Copied from Joint Operations gameplay)
Remove the ability to see scores ingame. Only show playernames. Then when the round has ended have the scoreboard show up as it is today. This way the ones who likes stats gets that (but after the round) and those who don't like stats gets no stats while a map is being played.

I disagree. I can finish top with most combat AND most teamwork points most of the time. In fact if people were worried about personal scores they would be doing all they could for the team as well as fragging as it's the only way you can be sure to come top. (sniper kit aside with it's rediculous muliplier. I personally never touch it as A) I'm useless with it, and B) I hate it as it's anti-teamwork!)digitmb wrote:Please...I think its time to eliminate the ingame score...lately I see more people caring about his killing rate more than team playing....also the sniper scoring have to be decreased...Its sad to see veteran players fighting for getting a sniper kit ....we call the sniper kit like the evil ring of the lord of the rings ....everybody is tempted to use it...

Removing personal points for teamwork is only going to make people LESS likley to work as a team. MORE points need to be given for teamwork and LESS for combat. That's surely the way to go to make sure people are teamwork as opposed to combat orientated.
Having a squad points only is pointless and unworkable anyway. The people who do the work should be rewarded. We already have trouble with people not pulling their weight so an average squad points system would be a dream to them!
From an admin point of view I hope in game scores stay as it helps a lot when making decisions. Although I wouldn't be that against the scoreboard just showing names in the order of points they have acheived but not showing the actual stats until the end of the round.

Agree with UGH there.
Particularly from a server admin point of view. I have raised that point before on a similar thread discussing scores, but it will be extremely difficult to admin a server aswell if you can't see the scores ingame.
But I would not be completely against having the scores only show at the end of the round. It would certainly save my caps lock key, which I seem to press every few seconds. But if I had to choose I would keep things as they are, except for lowering the points for being a sniper.
Teamwork points as UGH has mentioned are the ones that should be emphasised. Last night on Sunset city, I think Me, UGH and some other guy had over 100 teamwork points in a single round and I know UGH had best combat for that round.
But whilst the general consensus, particularly on these forums seems to be to get rid of scores totally or just during the round, I would think the majority of the casual players coming over from BF2 would be scared off the mod if they couldn't see the scores. I would fear the servers becoming empty, as it is these casual players that help keep the servers full.

I have a theory, but I haven't gathered enough data to make a compelling case, but ...
Damaging element are usually people with high K/D numbers and 0 teamwork points (TP). And they usually brag about their mad skillz ingame. It is easier to spot them when they are doing badly, because their game shifts to only whining and bitching.
Another damaging element are pointharvesters, but I fear that a large number of them just don't think ahead and therefore are more damaging then they intended. "All good deads will not go unpunished", if I got that saying correct.
I agree that ingame scores, if possible, should be gotten rid off. I agree with norhawk that a list ingame should be present, but you can only see score etc at the end of the game.
Yes, I look at them - but not necessarily mine. I look at everybody elses so that I get an idea what kind of players I'm up against, or playing with.

I agree. I made a thread about this couple of days ago: http://realitymod.com/forum/t13606-removing-killdeath-ratio-on-scoreboard.htmlMekstizzle wrote:Do a score system like RO. Doesn't show KDR, specific points or anything. Just shows a score. I say do that, or just show Team Points or something. Remember, you're keeping SHOCK PADDLES and AMMO BAGS for TEAMWORK. So the scoring should stay FOR TEAMWORK TOO.
