I don't care how fast it is as long as it's able to climb over a damm hill. When the damm thing stall's whilst going up a hill i get very cross indeed.

It's a bit on the slow side isn't it? Also I agree with Gabba, it does seem to stall too soon when going up a steep hill or rise.

Most ingame vehicles drive like soapbox carts. With no "UMPH" whatsoever behind the wheel. A jeep can go WAY more offroad in real life than currently implemented, and even the smallest anthill is like the friggin' Himalayas!

Couldn't you put a spedometer on the hud temporarily to test it out, and just see what the game says it's going?

The values it shows are rather "off". They say it's going 100kph on BF2 default topspeed.

If they did that in vanilla BF2, it would probably read feet/hrs, I've brought this topic up before, the vehicles in BF2 really need some working on physics wise. My sister served in the army, and worked in Bosnia, but one of the things they did there when they were bored was to see who can get thier Humvee stuck, which proved to be quite a challenge. But anyways, Im pretty sure the M1 Abrams IRL goes around 60mph, the one in BF2 I'd probably say around 40mph tops, im not a big time tanker, so not alot of expirence driving them, but as said before, the capabilities of all the land vehicles really seem on the poor side, for instance, I dont appreciate my Humvee getting stuck and blowing up in a 3 foot deep puddle.

Id like to see the Humvee have a snorkel so we could submerge it almost 100%.

I think it's going way too fast on roads and straight terrain. However, they seem to disconcern it's horsepower and climbing ability whenever it comes to climbing a hill. With a 60% slope it's speed can still exceed 4MPH. Though not much, you can still climb hills rather than just get slapped back down it. It also annoys me how the M1A2 (approximately 70 tons) can't manage to run over a wooden fence.

As for speed, in cross country the M1 is usally only going about 30MPH and on the road usually 40MPH.

I just can't do it captain, I don't have the power!

Non-sense, use the HORSEPOWER SCOTTY!

I dont know if you have the real game or not but plenty of the humvee models do have snorkels on them - but obv cant go in water deeper then about 2.5' which is a shame.

I think it goes too slow as well. It speed should be increased, and like solo said, more torque for gettin over hills. And perhaps a slower reverse, or the very least, have the MBT stop to switch into reverse.
And not really having to do with speed, but the tanks dont need to lose bars hitting little bumps and hillsides, hopefully that can be fixed.

In case no one noticed requiem's post, the m1a2 in bf2 goes 100kph which is about 62mph. It should only go about 42mph/68kph. And you can go from 0-100kph in under 2secs.

That just about sums it up. The average speed on paved roads is about 40-43 MPH. Usually in the desert. on dirt roads and barren sand the M1A2 will be somewhere around 25-29 MPH top speed.

on dirt roads etc the tank if not restricted by bends in roads etc could easily reach allmost top speed.

I think the problem lies with the fact that vehicles have absolutely no torque and it seems as though we are driving around on some kind of glass terrain, there is absolutely no traction between the vehicles and their terrain, they just want to fall over backwards when something gets steep.

Lol. That's definently what it feels like. It's like the tank all of a sudden gets tired and tells you it needs to sleep.

The Abram is quite a powerful tank when it comes to horsepower and engine power. They went with a gas turbine engine rather than the typical diesel, and if you ask me, it was a brilliant decision.

Im amazed that the original 1500hp gas turbine engine on the M1, which was like 60tons, are still on the M1A2SEP which are 69tons and stil has some pulling power..
