TK Suggestion

Recently I've noticed a disturbing trend. Maybe others have seen the same thing. Last night I was playing and one of my team mates was sniping. He was killed and no one came to revive him. I picked up his sniper kit and went to find a better spot.

5 seconds later I died. It said ASSHAT (Teamkills) <TNT>GRENADIER. Although I never do, I punished after hesitating. I typed in, "I can't believe you tk'd me for the sniper kit." His answer was, "You jacked it from me."

Unbeknownst to me, he had been revived after I picked up the kit and turned around. I think I typed in that he was dead so I took it. I also added that he should go back to vanilla where he belongs. Of course, I got no response.

I want more players to come over to the light and play PR but not the jerkoffs that inhabit vBF2. Is there a way in an upcoming patch to code it so that once killed, a sniper's kit cannot be picked up? Or, does the code have to be for every kit? I know nothing about that stuff. I've been tk'd for the sniper rifle more than a few times the last couple of weeks. I've never punished before because of the mechanics of this game and it has never been so obvious.

I had that once when I got into the AH-6 on mutrah, I waited untill it respawned, no one to claim it so I got in, the next moment a chopper flies into me and rams me into the ships controltower and then it says that I teamkilled him afcourse I get punished. Later in the round the AH-6 was unattended so I entered it, I was on the brink of taking of and then I was shot of the heli by the same guy. Those things really pissed me off.

Post the names of the people who did it.
When they are known to the public they will be watched and harrased.
It won't stop all the a-holes but it will limit the persistant jerkoffs who think they can get away with anything because nobody will remember them.

well in some way I sympathise with him because you did not behave as a teamplayer. If you had you should have stayed beside him spamming 'i need a medic here' to get someone's attention. Then if a medic hadn't arrived in time you would have been entitled to take his weapon - as it was you were taking advantage of a team mate

I dont think a sniper kit should be gone once the sniper has been taken out, when I go down as sniper in my squad I immediatly shout to one of them to grab my kit.

You will never get rid of these people. I find them really funny.

I you die as a sniper, a team mate is entitled to take the kit. so dont die :roll:

If you weren't a medic I agree that the TK was wrong.
But if somebody is medic and takes the Sniper Kit instead of reviving, I would understand it.

What would be effective if it was possible to put a limit on a requestable kit.
I dont mean like the kit limiting but if you are TKed by someone for a requestable kit, it is scripted that if that person picks up the kit, it will say 'Playexample, you have 10seconds to comply', just like it does when someone else picks up the pilot kit on VIP extraction.

Couldn't agree more, that's what I do and look what I get! A 10% warning increase... It was relevent to the thread.

Anyway... I agree with Downtown_two if you were a medic and he was critical, your priority should be to revive, however if he was dead and had re-spawned it wouldn't have mattered obviously.
If I was in your shoes (not a medic) I would have waited until it was over for him. To be sure. Or if he was in your squad, just ask over VOIP if it's ok.

He was not in my squad and the only guy I saw was on the other side of the building, I have no idea if he was a medic or not. I disagree that I should wait around for him to be dead dead. at a 30 second or better spawn time, alot can happen in 30 seconds and there was alot of fire from the temple and they were trying to get up to the top level. Chances were not good of surviving unless I picked it up and skedaddled. Courtesy only goes to a point then it's impractical.

I merely bring this up as an example of my experience and a suggested fix. If I call for a medic, the icon lights up on me but i ould not have shown as needing healing to the medic since I was at full health at the time. I see your point but not practical IMO.

Grenadier that really sucks and it pisses me off too.

I had a situation the other day not like that but also really annoying. I was playing at Asbasrah or whatever that map was called as USMC. The USMC was FILLED with insurgent snipers, CONSTANTLY baseraping and spawnkilling us. There was nothing we could. Some idiot said "EYE FOR AN EYE" as if we could spawnkill them when they have 10 different spawning points.

So, I got so fed up with it that I went insurgent and decided to pick off the baserapers. Finally the admin came in and started booted all the baserapers. Sucks though that RIGHT when I was going to the USMC base to kill the insurgent baserapers, I was booted for "base raping!" Ironic!

Actualy, Vega, you could have done somthing. You could of hit the escape key and disconected. You didnt, you wanted to get even. What you intended to do was actualy worse then what they did, so -1 to them and -2 to you.

Thank yourself lucky you didnt get to do what you had intended to because more than likely the Admin would have banned you from the server rather than booting you.

TheOldDog, of course I could of hit escape and disconnected, but that's not what I was referring to. I said we couldn't do anything about the base rapers. Of course I wanted to get even! I'm playing the game, I'm not going to hit escape and disconnect every time a game goes to hell. I don't want to run every time the other team decides to be total pricks (besides the fact that it was the highest played server when I updated my list).

However, my attempt to kill the spawn killers as being a worse act than base raping itself is all of an opinion. I personally find baseraping completely lame and ruins the entire game. I literally couldn't spawn without a split second later getting shot up 5 times. I spotted snipers nonstop but it did nothing when they were completely out of our normal view distance and without sniper rifles. THAT is where I find tk'ing the base rapers a perfectly legit option.

You're right though, I was definitely lucky that I didn't get banned.

AFAIK there is a new thing in .5 that if you're TKed for a kit (i.e. you're TKed, and the same guy runs over and picks up your kit) they weill automatically die, and they won't be able to request the kit for another 10 minutes, on the other hand, you can re-request it right after you spawn (again, AFAIK, it might've changed.)

Oh, and everyone needs to stop complaining about Baserapers, you know what you can do to combat them? DON'T WAIT FOR CHOPPERS. Just get a squad, get in a humvee, and cap flags, while they're baseraping you can cap all the flags, and voila, nowhere for them to spawn, hell, hoof it if you need to, all I see in Basrah is [whine]STOP BASERAPING *whaa, whaa*[/whine] when all you have to do is get out of the damn base. Simple hu? This isn't aimed specifically at you Vega, but everyone.

in all fairness if a server is filled with asshats then leave that is what i do if i get on a **** server (or get an M16 and pick off the rapers on bassarah).

I've actually encountered the same problem (TKed for kits) and considered how best to resolve it. While I don't really like the idea of removing a player's kit after they died, how about this:

If you TK someone and then pick up their kit, and that kit is a limited kit, you get kicked and/or killed instantly.

Thoughts?

the road entance and exit to the airbase.

so when being base raped choppers are probably your best bet.
