I dont know where you may have read that ... but forget reality for a moment ... its like a PR wet dream! Quake Wars engine combined with Project Reality ... I dont think I could handle such perfection without a serious heart complication!

Ok, I seriously shouldnt have read that ... I have a report on stress within the workplace due in at 2pm - and now all I can think about is the possibilities of PR on ET!!

ARGH!

Still ... ET is a fair bit off, and as such, (after I get this report written), it might be useful if I start learning to model for the Doom3/Q4 engine to help out in future years.

... like I said ... how can I concentrate now?!

Also, is it true that the max player limit is 12 vs 12 in ET:QW?? If so then screw that, thats boggus. hopefully it can be changed if PR ever goes that way.

we might .. we might not... problem with a mod project and picking a platform is that DX10 is right around the corner. So by the time you finish your project to a playable state, the graphics engine could already be very outdated.

I'd also love to see Nvidia or somebody buy up that Physics card company and incorporate that directly into the CPU or GPU and then see engines start to take advantage of that.

There's still a lot of life left in the BF2 engine, it's just such a shame that even as a popular BF mod, PR still suffers from really low player populations (as do all BF2 mods).

Only one way to combat that, and thats have Project Reality a standalone game. 99% of players wont play mods ... not because though lack of knowledge (although thats a part), but an assumption that because they are done by fans, they wont be as good as the original.

The second reason, is lack of knowledge ... not everyone searchs the net for mods.

Lastly, as its based on a game, there is this stigma that if you want to play a game (in this case, a realism combat game), you buy a commercial product - not an arcade game just to download a mod.

Basically, the general population needs a good kick and force fed some knowledge. Hey, their loss, not ours

no, it's because of the business model EA has around BF2 ranked servers and unlocks.

i dont know do the ET:QW has futuristic statics or real ones (houses etc.).
If it does than i can be a god platform to migrate on, aldo i would rather see Reality mod on CRYSIS platform.
Who want to get things done will find a way and who dosen't will find an excuse.

I disagree eggman.

There is quite clearly an effect going on in the greater PC multiplayer game base that is impacting many worthy multiplayer games, PR among them. Take, as one example, The Ship (Valve/Steam). The Ship is not my style of game but that aside is a very worthy title that has appeared in Top 10 multiplayer games lists of 2006.

Its dead.

In fact after only a couple of months it was a dead game walking. It, and many other very good multiplayer games are just not generating bums on seats.

Just why this is I am not sure, but I am certain the effect exists. I suspect that two things cause it, the rise of online console based gaming soaking people away from PC’s and what I would call the Blockbuster Movie effect, where people are simply staying away from any game that is not commercially hyped and pimped to the max, because games have now passed a critical quality threshold where even a bad ‘blockbuster’ game still has enough goods to hold the audience it is pimped too. That was not the case several years ago, when hyped games could still go down in flames through poor implementation.

This video makes me wont CRysis more than ETQW: http://www.gametrailers.com/downloadnew ... ype=wmv&f= Becuase it shows a car door opening and a man getting out the open door and then it shutting!

ETQW can do alot of cool stuff, vehicle phyiscs, wheels role off, house with destructable walls ext. but the actual game still have magi telportation from out side to inside vehicles. You might be able to change it, but there is not proof you can O and crysis's 6km maps and 3km draw distance clinch it alittle further.

BUT that is only the fight between ETQW and Crysis, i think UNREAL 3.0 powered games (like Brother in ARms 3 nad UNreal 2007) might be able to offer some very cool stuff as well, that could easily compete with Crysis.

you are definetly right about the 'block buster effect'. in my school, the only game you ever hear about from non nerds (ie not me) is Halo2. Even though the gameplay is not very good, and is definetley very repetetive, i believe microsoft (keep in mind i live 30 miles north of seattle) has done a very good job of creating so much hype that you actually are not cool if you don't like halo, and if you think halo is stupid then people are rude to you. its ridiculous.

a game like pr COULD be popular for a long time, because it has good gameplay, and is not repetetive like 'the ship'. so many people just have never even heard of mods though... if we could get advertising that would be good... .but we have no money.

wait a minute... idea:

OK, we know our community is strong enough to donate 300 dollars to buy a soundpack... you think the community is strong enough to donate money for an advertisement campaign?
