Yes, I think it's callsigns. But I have English Radio Only turned on (I don't know how you guys can play MEC or PLA without it), and only played with Brit voices a couple times when I wanted to see what they sounded like.

I always wondered why you died so often when you ran round corners into the middle of enemy squads thinking it was your own guys, lol! How can you play like that?

I prefer the immersion of having the RL voices around me, having it in bad english would ... well give me the impression of being in Team America

And its not like there was a 100 words to actually learn. Take a couple of minutes issuing requests or spoting and you'll learn it in no time. Just think of them as jingles if it helps.

I think having the chinese and MEC speak english with accents would be IDEAL for gameplay. Also it is realistic in the sense that if you were really chinese or arab, you *would* understand when your squad mates spoke to you. I know the PR devs aren't about to go out and record a million radios, but from a theoretical point of view, this would be way better than how it is now.

I like it the way it is now. I can understand it without having to tick the english only box.
It's not so much the word's i've learnt to recognise as a particular thing, it's the noise those words make. If that makes sense....

Sure you can learn them. I spent about 4 days of playing time doint exactly that. But

A) It takes a split second longer to think of the Arabic meaning (I understand some Mandarin, so the PLA was always a little easier) than it does to just hear the English one.

B) While we (those who care enough about the mod to be active on the forums) may take the time to learn the commands or read the text, most of the pub players don't. Whenever I'm on PLA, MEC, or Insurgent, I can pretty much write off getting a medic who's running past me to stop and administer some meds. Pretty much the only thing I can do is find one that's stopped, pull out my knife so he pays attention, and start spamming "Medic!" in his face.

Not constructive at all. If you've got a reason, let's hear it. So far all I've heard is

1) It's not realistic
Response: It's also not realistic to be fighting in a non native language. You use VOIP in english, and that's not realistic either.

2) You can learn the Arabic and Mandarin (and POME ).
Response: But obviously not all the pubbies are doing that. And even amongst us, this is a needless barrier to the fluidity of communication.

*it doesnt get used on the pc version, i was a bf2mc junkie a while back and thats what you hear for the one hit murder everything arty strike of doom in that game.

I don't like the idea of MEC and China speaking english.
It just takes away atmosphere.
Plus, as an experienced player, you understand the chinese and arabian commands just from the sound.

Some people pick up languages faster than others.
I'm alright but I don't really pay attention to the foreign chatter unless it's to spot enemies when they call for medic or whatever.
Turning it english VO only I think puts you at a distinct disadvantage.
Even if you don't understand, you know there is either a dead enemy calling for a medic or a live enemy that you need to kill.

friendlies can often be obscured by minimap signs like the huge no.1 from the squad leader. You may blue on blue as a reslut.

Aslo, its Fking great for jungle/forest combat as you can get their distance and direction(if you have it up loud enough )

Your logic in the first part doesn't make sense. If you're trying to see if a friendly's somewhere on your minimap but he's obscurred by the SL no. 1, then that means there's *two* friendlies over there.

In the second part, you can get all that info if they're speaking english too.

"You're argument is gay and has no common sense". Wow man, great arguments. When saying others lack common sense, try using a spell checker. I don't really mind of course, just jostling ya a bit.

And just so I don't get another warning level increase, I should probably respond to your point.

Yes you get a sense of what things mean after a while. But just the same, you're going to make the odd mistake about what exactly it means. For instance, the spotting. With always enlish turned on, if you see a guy, you spot him right away. If it says "enemy troops" or "hostile infantry", you fire. Otherwise he's friendly. Nice, simple, and most importantly, really fast.

If you do the same except it's in Mandarin or Arabic, you have to stop for that split second and think about whether or not to fire. And once out of every bunch of times, you're going to mess up and TK.

All english eliminates all confusion. And if we instituted accents too, it would also allow you to know if that comm you just heard was friendly or not.

Well, you have an issue in arabic where there are several different dialects. Most dialects are close enough that they can get the basic idea of what the other's saying, but it's like a purebred southerner going up to new york city for a business meeting and expecting to understand everything. Or talking to a drunken scotsman. You eventually get the idea, but in war, it can be hell. MEC is supposed to be a coalition of middle eastern countries. Does that include Iran? They speak farsi. Not a dialect of arabic. There would be massive communication issues.
