I know ECGN servers pride themselves on being new player friendly places to play. We would NEVER kick someone for being new. That is a one way to get empty servers fast. I would rather kick a vet that is cursing out a new player. Then the new player with 3 tks.

there are lots of servers which really don't have too much players. So MAYBE if one of them would want to try this kinda thing. Just a suggestion, no one has to do it if they don't want to, I'm not demanding anything, just tossing out ideas. And yes, I do really appreciate the free servers.

hmm i dont think passwordinh would improve anything, it would just shrink the community.

i think education is the way forward.

Actually ECGN does do a BOTR(battle of the regulars). We have done this on ECGN servers since bf1942. The serve is locked and only people that come to ECGN forums and sign up get in. After they get the password on vent that is. But they don't have to be vet players. A new player that has played on the server a week is more then welcome. We tried one for PR but had some server/bfcc issues setting up the locked server while 25ish people on vent were waiting for it to start.

But we will be trying it again soon so be on the look out.

Thank god I joined in before people seriously contemplated not inviting folks to play the mod, or else I would never had a chance to play it.

I have nothing against new players if they play as a team. I don't look at their score or anything like that, I look at how they play&act. And most of the people on the public servers act exactly the way I don't want people to act in this mod, which is own score/kd ratio > teamplay. There are also some great players, and playing with them is great, so I made the suggestion so it might be possible to have these great gaming moments more often.

I understood mammikoura, no offense ment. Unfortunetly, if we don't let noobies be noobies for 3 to 4 months, then this mod will dry up and soon it will be another case of "remember the days of PR? That was fun, wasn't it?"

Perhaps a campaing of "adopt a noob" will do the trick?

Adopt a noob! Wonderful idea. Like a Big Brother program. We should seriously impliment this. Noobs can sign up and get a mentor to show them the ropes. We could advertise it in the map loading space.

I think we should use the loading screen. Get rid of the medals and specific kits pages (the middle two pages) and replace it with PR adverts, promoting the forums, the player guide, and R-PUB programs.

I can't play a normal game paily in PR. So many spaw campers, lone wolfs, M4 whore... List can be endles

Yes, yes i do. The last game i played i was totaly lone wolfing against an enemy force constisting of a whopping 2 personel!

I am still sweating, twas a hell of a round, 1 (me) VS 2 others - LONE WOLFING TO THE MAX!!!!!!!!1

Ive replaced PR with wwiiol as I seem to get pissed off at both, but at least in wwiiol I can drive across a beautiful world

(this is debatable, except in a tiger

) and fly with realistic gameplay.

When I get mad at wwiiol, or not many attacks or defenses are going on, I play PR.

I usually come to PR in a different mindset then normal, and usually can't find a good squad. So I don't feel like being a squad leader either.

So i either get a m24 or l96 and snipe because it cools me off

Go play wwiiol, walk for 30 minutes, get killed by random things and not get pissed off

A great idea.
The only problem is see is that some new players to PR don't consider themselves "noobs" and feel that they don't need any help and won't accept any advice.
Advice like:
don't land in a hot zone;
don't hover in a hot zone;
defend the Docks;
etc etc
It's just a matter of waiting out the noobs and praying for .5 to stifle the nilla behaviour.
Every day a new player joins and falls in love with the teamplay and VIOP so we will have more good players and just have to tolerate ( barely) the run and gun-never in position-I'm 1337 and don't need to listen to you- players.

Some time back, I had an idea to make a little movie of my own. What to do, and NOT to do.

Scene 1: Wrong way
Scene 2: Right way

And just basically take every scenario in the book. Example: 5 hostiles infront of that dead teammate? Revive? No. Call for back up and wipe them out, then revive? Yes. etc etc etc ...

There a bunch of folks comming in to the servers asking questions faster than the M4 can shoot bullits. So maybe one should direct them to the forum and ask for a BigBrother?

actually your wrong about that. It could be programed where you had to open/read/test before you even INSTALL the mod.

now that would be awesome! Though then again, even if they know how they should play they might still take the m4 and try to spray everyone with it, no matter what other kit would be usefull for the squad because "they are 1337"

Really we should just wait and see what happens when .5 is released as many of these concerns may just go away in the new version.
The tututorial before you play is a great idea, like those license agreements that don't let you move foward until you scroll to the bottom and then the " next" button becomes useable.
We all should refer people to the forums because not all of them know or care about it when they DL the mod.
I didn't get on the forums for about a month after getting PR and I'm really glad I did ( although others may not be - LOL ).
Patience and understanding with a little tough love will help the noobs become solid team players.
