Hmmm, this multicam stuff looks extremely effective from the images posted on the companies website: http://www.multicampattern.com/IMAGES.htm

It looks, in many ways, better than ACU. But i am not a camoflage inspector/spotter/investigator/comparer ext. ext. Any opinions?

p.s it is cos i lack the skills, on the couch photo, i thought "why post a random couch on this thread, it is the PR forum, nothign new", so i overlooked the suposidly random couch. Took 3 reads of this thread to realise the truth. Me blind, possiby, thick, close but no. Easily fooled, guliable, YES! Therefore it appears ACU works very well in couch situations, but really do they cover enough of the worlds surface for ACU to be considered fully effective?????

Crye Precision bid to be the new US Army pattern but lost the bid. It's used by many Blackwater guys (contractors) and I believe some SF units are using it as well.

While a nice pattern, the gear itself got an early reputation for falling apart pretty quick. Not sure if they have fixed that, was about a year ago folks were complaining about it.

I like ACU's. Its kind of a feldgrau like the Germans wore.

ACUs are uber effective for urban combat, not so much for rural lanscapes

= ACU?
They WILL get some armor ontop of that, right? :S

And what are digital patterns?
And arent Blackwater Security mercenaries, hitmen and assasins? :P

Yes. Most troops get standard BDU camo flak vests on top of the ACU.

Digital camo is essentially a camoflauge pattern using pixles. It doesnt use black as black isnt a naturally found colour. Its designed so that there are no solid lines, which help to brake up the outline on the wearer.

Blackwater is a security contractor. Essentially, they're mercenarys.

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

I have a pair of ACU combats - they look grey in sunlight which is perfect for cities. In the dark in well lit urban they are an olive green which is a great colour for blending with a multitonal suburban environment because it is a subtle environmental tone that is not darker than the foliage. Where it fails horribly is where you go into a field or to the beach with a majority monotone scheme - the sand/white patches stick out horribly on grass, the green sticks out on stone or sand.

If only they had used the same pattern for the pants that they used for the rest of the outfit...

The ACU's suck, period. They blend in with gravel and that couch, that's it. They don't blend in with anything in the desert, the army was stupid when it didn't follow the marines by having different paterns for desert/forest/snow.

the ACU patten looks fine in Armed Assualt, but i think it would be much better gameplay wise if the army used the multicam other wise we would have another case of glowing soldiers, like the marpat camo on night maps
