Diffrent Style Of Warfare Soon To Take Place
With PR Mini-Mod soon to be released, we have discussed hundreds of issues concerning realism, one of the main things being teamwork... But not so much the type of warfare, in BF2 Vanilla, 90% of all shoot outs take place usually under 50ft from one and other, In PR it wouldn't surprise me to see terrain taking a much larger role in squad movement, and also to see the average shoot out take place at 100 yards, not 50 ft, so not only will we all have to adopt to a more teamwork based gameplay, but a totally diffrent style of warfare.

Im all for it. Squads in vanilla BF2, on a pub server, is useless unless you playing with some fellow clan members or friends. But PR seems like a pretty tight nit community, with everyone loving the reality that will be implemented. The more teamwork, the better, and I think PR will conquer that with excellent, and necessary, squad play.

Well what im really looking forward to is some nice long range shoot outs, I remember once in Zatar Wetlands, me and my squad of like 5 others were defending a crossing with a small blown out house near it, the enemy controlled the base of the island we were on, so the shoot out lasted several minutes which had my squad going up against infantry, jeeps, and alot of APCs and a tank or two, in the end, I think we had to fall back, but we put up a strong fight and it was sweet.

Oh, believe me, I can't wait. From the endless hours I've spent Battlefield 2 there have only been a few occasions I've had the enjoyment of having complete team orienented battles.
One thing the PR mod will do, in my opinion, is bring squads close together. I mean that literally too. Squads in BF2 are usually spread out amongst the map. In PR staying in a formation with your squad will be essential for success.
Theres a few reasons I love realism in games, however, one of them is the feeling epic engagements with the enemy: Your squad is surrouned by the enemy, you've got snipers keeping you pinned in an alleyway. The enemy is moving in on your posistion, you order your SAW gunner to lay down supressing fire on the the snipers. The snipers back up on the roof top to avoid being hit. The squad leader signals for the pointman to sprint to the other side of the road, when he gets there he starts shooting his M16A2 at the approaching enemies down the road. While he's engaging, one of your squad members loads a 40mm HE Grenade into his M203 and fires it towards the roof where the snipers are. The snipers have been eliminated, the Grendier goes to the edge of the building and starts shooting the approaching enemy as well. The squad leader issues the rest of the squad to fall back to the outskirts of the city. The SAW soldier turns to the enemies that are now taking cover down the road. He begins short bursts towards the now surpressed enemy. The SAW gunner watches the six of the squad while they slowly retreat to the outskirts. As the squad starts to fade from his vision he begins a strategic retreat to the outskirts of town, sparadically firing of bursts of those .223 full metal jacket rounds. Your squad is at the outskirts of town with a large enemy force approaching quickly. Your squad members try to hold them off but radio they can't hold this position much longer. The only way out is if you retreat into the open barrens to the south, but you'll be an easy target without cover. You radio in for Close Air Support. Just your luck, a British GR7 Harrier happens to be in flight near your position. One minute later you issue your squad to take cover as two 200 pound Mk82 bombs pound into the middle of the road way right on top of the opposing forces. Congratulations, you just surrvived your the first five minutes of your mission.
To me, that's what realism is all about in games. It's something that you always end up saying, "Remember that time...". It's just something that comes naturally in games with realism. I know moments like that will surely become regular with playing PR. That's one of the reasons I can't wait to play it. The reason I know these moments will happen is because of the PR community. Everyone who loves realism automatically loves teamwork, and tactics, and respects the chain of command. It becomes inherent as time goes on. So, when the PR mini-mod and the full release become available I have no doubt in my mind that what you're saying is true. It's going to be Battlefield 2 on a whole new level of teamwork.

definetely morel ong range shoot outs will happen, as the guns will be made accurate enough to hit thigns from farthere than 500 feet away...
and anyone who is smart and doesnt want the minute respawn time will use terrain and cover and not want to run around like a retard and get shot.
and if we have spawning only at main bases, then we don't have to worry about the guy you just killed magically reappearing in front or behind you right before you secure the position.
