Get rid of fire cone and have swaying weapon/crosshair

Post by thugnasty »

First of all if you dont know what the firing cone is, you probably wont understand what I'm saying. its an area where your bullets hit and spreads further and further apart while shooting.

The unrealistic firing cone should be removed. In stead the recoil from the weapon and movement should be the only factors affecting accuracy. One example would be shooting while walking. The gun should sway along with the crosshair but the bullet should still hit exactly where it's pointed at. This will eliminate the need for a firing cone. Also I know there won't be crosshairs in PR but I had to use that word just for the sake of understanding what I'm saying.
This would also prevent crosshair exploits(tape + and X) from working. People would not know where the crosshair is actually located during movement since the gun and (invisible) crosshair will be swaying.

Only problem is that we can't set recoil depending on stance. So if we set it at high recoil while running, you'll still have high recoil while prone. Fire deviation is a necessary evil.

BF2 doesnt allow you to set recoil for difference stances, which IMO is totally GAY! Tho you can set firing cone for different stance..

You kinda need both, to simulate it.

Does this mean only right now or even after the MDT is released, you cant tweak this?

How about e-mailing EA about it or the mod community liaison(sp?) about this problem and try too see if it can be rectified in one of the patches.

That is totally horrible if it can't be fixed...
The conefire is just obnoxious the way it is now.
Take the chinese sniperrifle, type 88 I think, you can't hit the broadside of a barn with that thing at a distance over 100 metres... Unless you're INSIDE the barn...

EA/DICE or whoever makes the patches really needs to fix this, if it cannot be done with the MDK. Untill then, it seems cone fire is the only way to get the job done. :x :?

but you can still set the sway per stance...

maybe you can code it so that after every shot, along with the recoil, for a brief time, you experience A LOT or sway, but it only lasts for like 1/3 of a second.

it would take a while, but you could just code this for every different gun (or maybe leave it the same for similar guns), and this quick, forceful sway that only lasts a small time before going back to the normal cycle is the extra recoil for moving stances.

im a genius! if that works...

that would be great to atleast get the swaying moving invisible crosshair working.

Also why would it be too hard to have different recoil for each stance? What good are the mod tools if you cant do anything a little complicated.

If youve seen the mod tools, you know.. And as for the recoil, its universal for all stances, only other modifier is when you use the Ironsight/Zoom.
