I doubt it, although I am volunteering some of my time to making improvements to certain things and if the DEVs like them they can feel free to use the changes I make.. otherwise I might just make them available for whoever wants to use them *shrug*

Is skinning really hard. I'm quite alright at photoshop and i've been meaning to start making some SVD and AK47 skins just for fun, but i've never got around it and i'm wondering if there's more to it than simply needing photoshop and BFEditor.
What i'm thinking is giving the SVD a more modern look:
And roughing up the AK47 abit more. Looks too clean.

You just gotta open the .dds file corresponding to the texture you want, that is located inside the objects_client.zip in PR or BF2's folder.
It's kinda hard to skin guns and vehicles, but stactics might not be so hard (carefull cause some use the the textures "inversed". That is, if you're gonna put a text, you might have to flip it 180º or so)

I wonder how far the personalisation with those emblems would go towards attracting players to the game who aare fascinated with the aircraft side of things?

Well it's not just the text I changed the entire coloring and detail of the material of the chopper itself has been improved.. check out my latest two skins:
I do sometimes think that the skins on the current aircraft are a bit plain.
Have you go details as to what lag issues will effect the players who need to draw those textures? Will they be only drawn for people with graphics set to a certain level and if introduced right now, with any resulting lag, however small, how will it effect the current ongoing optimisation of certain maps?
