The Tomcats have become quite a rare breed. IIRC, there are only four squadrons of them on the float with the carrier air wings; two F-14A/B, and two F-14D "Super Tomcat" squadrons. Considering there's only 10-14 planes deployed per squadron (usually 12 for most squadrons, but the operational cost of the Tomcats is so high they may limit them to 10 on a deployment), that's not very many compared to the number of F/A-18s (including Marine squadrons, which may be carrier-based) in the fleet. I'm not going to completely rule it out of PR, but I don't think it's likely, and certainly wouldn't be implemented in a first release.

F/A-18F (two-seat Super Hornet), while in service, is used primarily for training and recon, but there are other variants of it being considered or evaluated for special missions like tanker or electronic warfare. In US service, the F/A-18D (two-seat Hornet) is used in the strike fighter role only by the Marines. The Navy uses it for training and some have been adapted for recon.Beckwith wrote:id rather see a two seater variant of the F/A-18E than the F-14

EA-18G Pics
It's good the Navy at lesat decided to build a replacement for their jammer aircraft unlike the Air Force. All that did was put more stress on EA-6 crews that had to fly missions for the USAF and the Navy.
