Well.....er, we could have a poll, 'Do u want a server side option of which fraction to be, or not?'
As for me i would vote no as this is a reality mod, and u would not place marines where the standard U.S army was in the Gulf War, the same in opposites.

I dont even think its possible. I mean comeon its DICE they put the bare minimums for how they want the game to run in. And then you have to work with that. This isnt the source engine where the only limit seems to be your coding ability.

You have to work with what DICE gives you and I dont think they gave us that kinda option.

i would not be one bit suprised if dice put a sort of cap on capabilities so people dont just play mods all the time because they wil loose out if that happened.
EA only care about money, which is a shame.

mods raise interest in there products and enlarge the market for that product i bought BF42 specifically for DC, i wouldnt have played BFV if not for POE, hopefully they realise this

That is true to a degree. mods also take people away from official BF2 servers and also the official servers being renter by other hosts. So if no one plays BF2 just the mods not only will EA loose out on expansion pack income but also all the income from servers they are renting out and servers that pay to use the ranking database.
Also the big majority of customers who buy BF2 wil be persuaded in the annual release of the game not by any upcoming mods.

becks right... again. if it didnt work that way (having mod tools to raise interest in the game itself and EA making more money because of it) they wouldnt bother to release the tools, they have to be confident that the fan bases of mods are large enough so that when people buy vanilla bf2 they take in enough money to offset thbe costs of releasing those mod tools.

Well theres one obvious thing EA could do to nip that in the bud ...

which is? theres two possible things you could refer to A. EA has complete control of the server industry or B. EA allows ranking for all the Mods, eather one of those is an UNBELIEVABLY BAD idea

A. ea charges rediculous amounts for servers and people riot

B. stat whoreing spreads to the modding community and COMPLETELY destroys the greatness of battlefield beyond all possible repair

Bottom line is. EA only make games to make money. If they were truly in it for the gamers then youd see support alike to what valve offers there customers and that is regular updates - new maps and models and whatever else they decide to put in... FOR FREE.
EA release the tools mainly because they know a high selling game has got to be flexible to get to other areas of the market. The tools they released are very basic and do not include anything special to any degree - everything in them is as basic as it gets.
Even though they added the tools the engine does not seem to be very easy manipulated which once again makes me believe EA put minimal effort in to there product.
Yes i would say some people do buy the origional game just to play the mods but this is a minority of the overall market.
Nothing from EA so far has impressed me when it comes to customer service including there sly removal of many features that were showcased in BF2 which can now be found in the expansion pack.
BF2 currently feels infinished to me from the overall feel of the game which is why i have so much hope for this mod. I am depending on this mod to take off where EA messed up.
Hopfully this will be the game that puts EA to shame. If ways can be discovered to work around the poor engine support.
Models and textures and basic physics alterations are all fine but its things like active recoil in multi stances and projectile penetration that works as fine as CSS that will be hard to implement but are also the MOST important areas of creating a realistic gaming experience.
