Teamkills by friendly mines

I just had this idea... would it be possible the driver gets the TK's if he drives into friendly mines instead of the engineer that layed that mine?
I think this would be fairer towards the engineer, because even if he chooses a good place to put his mines he can not avoid his teammates to drive into them.

Well... will it happen?

I'm not engineer usually but I was the other day and it was a lot of fun. Shame that some people don't see them :/

we increased the distance in which you see the red skull so hopefully this prevents it.

I've got it! Every time they run over a friendly mine, hit them in the head with a bat, after a month or so, they will learn not to run over friendly mines, problem solved. Do you think you can implement this in .6?

I would be 100% in favour of this proposal

it doesn't matter if you place them

write it in the chat

tell your squadleader to tell the commander

rambo in the humvee still comes bombing in, getting you a teamkill but worse robing you of a tankkill or allowing the enemy tank to go the easy way into a flag.

thats what i do, when i play CP abadan on MEC side, i start off the round as eng and voip my squad (mines at this point) then type it into team chat "MINES AT HARBOUR ENTRANCE" three times in a row.

It's the long duration that gets you sometimes.
I had laid a little minefield on Al jabar, died and respawned elsewhere and relaid a new minefield but only used 4 not 5 and then promptly ran over the last mine from the old minefield.
It's placement and judging where the action is likely to go that makes all the difference because people just forget or don't pay attention to the text.
I type 3 differently worded messages ...all containing the words AT MINE and people still don't avoid them.
Punishing the driver would not really be fair because at full speed in a jeep you don't have time to stop even if you see the red death's head so it comes back to placement.
On small maps when everyone is paying attention to the text and has good commo AT mines are a godsend because you can totally block access and cover a flank w/o losing a man to guard that area.

That wouldn't be any fun, maybe keeping FF on but removing the TK aspect like in the console version?

It does not. I got kicked for teamkilling 3 rounds in a row for people driving over my mines today. Usually I don't play engineer and due to this experience playing it again makes no sense to me. The mines seem kind of useless.

I did some research on punishment today to solve the getting kicked for mine kills problem. Maybe some admins want to use it.

Add this in the tk_punish.py to the onPlayerKilled event: (right before the "# ok, we have a teamkill" remark)

Now, when somebody drives over a friendly mine you should still see the teamkill message. But the driver won't get the chance to punish for it.

It would be nice if someone could test if it works, because i have not. A reply about the functionality is welcome.

??? If you place them right, especially in Al Fallujah Region, you can stop the americans from driving a squad into the capture zone and having the flag neutral right a way. Plenty of other places on other maps work aslo. But as long as there are people driving a hummer like they are Jihad cars, they will always run over your mines. I have yet to run over a friendly mine. You just have to be careful when driving in choke point areas.

This reminds me of drivers being punished for Idiots who jump out of moving cars and die from the injury. Is there some environmental damage it can be attributed to like when you walk too close to a burning car so that the drivers don't suffer for idiots. I have had this happen and the riders NEVER asked for me to stop or anything. They get bored and jump out, die, then punish.
