dilema, is there a thing as to much realism in a game?
War is not fun, I've never met or heard a vet talking about what a blast it was to see his buddies die and kill a bunch of opposing soldiers. Bf2 in any incarnation is still a game. Do we want realism to a degree, yes, so we can vicariously go to war without the real fear of dying. The more real you make this mod the more its going to turn into stalemate combat between snipers I regulary go 5 to 1 in vanilla bf2 and thats having to shoot most targets 2 to 3 times, if a single hit killed then snipers would rule every map, thats why balance is an issue to make it fun for everyone. Just some suggestions, instead of cappable flags, make bases and once a team captures it, the other team can't get it back, this makes it so your team has a set of goals, instead of playing "hot potatoe" with flags. Make any player capable of carrying another player. If my buddy gets hit, i'm going to try and save his *** then the medic can go to work. Make it so medics can never heal over 60% life, unrealistic yes but if not then just take them out of the game. Nothing worse then shooting a guy 2 times to kill him and have him pop back up and kill you cause you have to shoot him another 2 times. This is just my opinion for as little as its worth but i think you guys are stiving for to much realism and its going to suck the enjoyment out of this mod. extreme realism doesn't make teamwork that much better it just makes everything slower, which in turn multiplies the sniper class. Objectives and goals for winning make teamwork better. Say to capture a base you have to have a minium of 3 guys there to "hold the fort" until backup arrives or something. Add in an advantage for attacking/defending certain bases (comm relay or artillery control etc). I could write a freakin' book! I'll cut it short here though

...I'll respond to the question/topic, please put some spaces in the huge mass of letters there, can't read it too well.
Too much realism? Yes it is possible. Like, having to worry about deficating and urinating everyonce in a while, being zapped by the mouse when you are hit, I'm sure you can think of other things that are too much, simply because, they do not help or change gameplay to be realistic and fun at the same time.

All I have to say is, Whats so fun about Arcade games? (like vanilla BF2)?
The people on this forum are not complaining about too much reality, are they? NO Sir! The people on this forum are looking forward to a game that is as close to reality as you can get with out dying. And they think that this game will be "MORE FUN" than a stupid arcade game. I know that I find games that are more realistic to be that much more Entertaining!
Such as Brothers in Arms, or reality mods for Silent Hunter III, (The Berry Mod, which makes the game more realistc) Or even the new reality mod for Rome Total War. I could care less about games which are Arcady!
So what if i die in a video game from a snipers bullet, Im here for the "experience". That is why im here and thats what I find fun. Never in my life will I be a real soldier, fighting in Rome's legions, a sub captain beneath the waves, or a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. These games however, allow me to "experience" something that I would not be willing nor would I want to in real life, Thats what I find FUN, (The EXPERIENCE)
Dont be affraid to Think, or fight as a TEAM, to avoid being "sniped"
Wow who ever thought you might have to THINK on a real battlefield?

as far as too much reality yeah, it could get to be much, im sure the devs will make it balanced between realism and gameplay, so its still fun, but you cant be a regular rambo as in bf2.
for the sniper issue, all there needs to be is class limits, or just a few pickup kits at the main base so it doesnbt get out of control.
i dont think that bases that can only be taken once is a great idea, thats not realistic at all unless of course the base is totally destroyed, in which case no one owns it.
