Al Basrah literally "dieing of lag"

Post by Hides-His-Eyes »

Not lagging out and getting shot

was spec forces insurgent

requested comander

accepted

got shot

respawned at main

pinged about 20 seconds

spawned dead, no gunfire, no americans in area

tried another spawn (mobile)

again, spawn, this time crit wound not instant death

still pinging several seconds

third time

spawn

dead again

so either the americans have invisible knife monkeys

or the ping is not letting something somehwere catch on that i'm not dead

I still get a lot of map lag on al basrah, not as much as before but a good amount to keep me from playing that map. That, and greasy mullet are horrible with map lag.

Insurgents can't have a commander.

Check the big letters saying "Hides-His-Eyes, you have 10 seconds to resign the commander position".

That's what is killing you. And if you spawn again, and didn't resign, you'll keep dying.

Basrah is also really RAM intensive, so sometimes what you think is lag in the built up areas can just be you're own pc coughing and spluttering (use fraps and you'll notice the fps drop down in the main city). Still, the map ROCKS and is WAYYY better than before! Kodus to Duckhunt :)

Dont jump out of moving viechles. you WILL get hurt, if not die. im guessing it was a mobile spawn point?

Oh yeah, commader thing too.

I have lags too on different maps, like airport, sunset city (in the market) and looks like everywhere there are too much buildings and houses, but no problem at all on Street map !!!!!!

That's really boring cause I don't have any problem on BF2, and I have 1 Go of RAM running as PC 2700 (2,5-3-3-7), a very well AGP card (IceQ 9800 radeon) and a Sempron 3000 + and it woul seem that's not enough... :? ??:

Should I go lower graphic options ??? I'm feared the coding of the mod is too heavy, I already saw that on games that weren't very complicated on graphics but so greedy in resources. Go simpler to go better

Too bad for such a good mod. Since I tried V0.5 I can't come back to BF2 !

edit : I just rod (http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread. ... orum+Rules) I can't use colors is on the forum, is that right ?

I was able to fly for minutes at a time and even land, taxi and take off again with minimal lag on a map I could not even think of flying on in .4.
The map has been improved since I still only have 1g of RAM and a 128 vid card.
It's a great map.
Look for optimization tips to get more performance out of Al Basrah ..it's worth the effort.

the only complaint about this map I have is I spent the whole round being a taxi and ended up with a minus score (got RPG'd once and I had to TK a noob at airport as he was firing rockets at my BH as he wanted to fly it :/ )

lol the noob !
It should be a great idea to program points for taxis beacuse it's very usefull to have a pilot or a driver to get ground people from far to the battleground, and I love to do it with a copter (that's how I first learned to fly copters, in BF Vietnam offline, but bots didn't understood very well the utility ! :lol)

dont worry about score, it sucks but you were helping your team which is more important.

Turning off EAX didn't do anything. I've really done everything to try and fix the lag and disconnects on basrah. What happens is at some random moment during playtime, there is a long pause in the game where time is frozen, then im unfrozen for a second and following is the disconnect.

Some of these maps should really be optimized, there are a lot of useless trees on Qwai River - I just tried flying but crashed because of map lag. :( Not sure what could be causing it, but .5 did something.
