... duck the bullet.Clypp wrote:I am also not a fan of headshot death. It disrupts teamwork and prevents reviving the SL which is even more vital with the spawn changes 0.5 introduced.
Alternatively, if the enemy is infront of you ... do not go prone! That makes your head the biggest target.
BTW - I agree with you bagpipe on the above. Kids pretending to be adults and mature coming out with **** like that simply to insult someone else is not what PR is about! TBH, PR would be a better mod than it is if it could get rid of the kids with an elites attitude who find the need to insult rather than debate.
Thats the whole point of this topic ... it has lead to a debate where we can discuss things - no throw our penis in the air comparing how big it is.

i fully understand your statement that 0.5 was a bit strange in the beginning, but when you get over the first shock you will learn to love it...
Some of the features probably need some fine tuning but overall this version has blown me totally away!!
What i like best it's the Rally Points which actually have solved a huge problem with battlefield 2 in general, i'm thinking about base raping...
Now your SL can set up your spawn point away from the flag capturing area so you don't have that problem anymore....
It's probably not that realistic, but you are more free to play as you like in 0.5 because you cat request kits when you need it...
I will give you an example i had on our server yesterday:
I joined our HeliX server #2 which had Operation Phoenix running and immediately joined one of the MEC squads there..
I spawned on our SL rally point just west of Suburb and discovered 5 US soldiers trying to sneak up on the North side... I had the grenadier kit so one shot in the middle of that group and they where out.... Then i requested the all mighty support kit (OMG..LOVE) and hurried over on the south side and saw an entire squad coming trough the cornfields there....
RATATATATATTATATaT.. and end of that story..
Well.. now i heard an APC approaching from the south west on the road, and i felt it was best to get something useful to take that out with...
So... I was running for my life back to the rally point and requested the Heavy AT kit, and just as i had the weapon up and ready the APC stopped 20 meters in front of me... 5-6 US soldiers where exiting the APC just when my missile hit it from behind with an huge explosion.....
So.. i had played for like 3 minutes and had manage to kill 15 US soldiers and finished that round with almost 30 Kills and 3 death.....
Ok.. what i'm trying to say.. 0.5 rocks big time but you need to get used to it and use all the functionality it has... Play as a SL or play in squads who actually play together....

Its actually a lot of fun spotting an enemy sniper in a good position, and blowing him up with a heavy AT.BigPipe wrote:While i believe its true for a bullet to kill you, if an enemy has higher ground, camped up in a crane, it means you will never be able to advance, even peeping to observe enemy fire results in death. It makes people more careful i agree (that was the developers objective), but when people start playing like that, it kills the fun out of the game.
The difference is that you are still alive, and when i'm in that condition, its never hard for me to find a medic. Or you could just play as medic, and heal yourself when it happens and others when it happens to them.BigPipe wrote:Nobody ever complained that 3-4 bullets were needed to kill in .4 but why did they change it? Body armour doesn't seem to make a difference. Catch one shot as a body armour class and your down coughing and having blurred vision, you might not be dead, but what's the difference, you have 10 sec to die.
This, i agree with, and while it frustrates me, i dont see a whole lot of people doing it, so its not too bad.BigPipe wrote:It has reached a point, the one who wins the fire fight is the one who can drop to the ground instantly and spray and pray because if you start aiming, one shot at a time, you will end up dead.
Not really, i think thats the type of people the majority of this board are.BigPipe wrote:But for us who come from work and want to enjoy some decent game play on a public server, in a squad of people you've never met, it can be the worst experience in your life.

wow lol .. this thread spawned off a lot of posts very quickly hehe.
HERE'S THE DEAL:
Project Reality is not the best game for the "casual gamer". We're talking about an FPS that has a lot of complex rules for certain roles in the game world. And really requires that you spend *at least* 20 minutes or so reviewing the player guide to not be completely lost (although you could watch the 2 x 5 minute videos and be up to speed pretty quick).
While there are definitely some issues with v0.5, we're looking to address the critical ones asap with a patch. If folks can't see past those issues .. and look at the innovation and intent of the changes .. then I honestly don't think that PR is the right game for them. So be it.
We don't have commercial sales figures to hit or anything like that. We do want to expand the size of the community, but for every 1000 new player downloads of a new release of PR, I'll be surprised if 20% of those folks stick with it.
Folks who have been with the mod for a few releases know that we try our best to correct issues in a timely manner. v0.4 was a large release .. had some really bad issues .. 90 days later we have a v0.5 (too long imo, but not like 8 months or anything).
v0.5 has some *radical* changes from BF2. We made some mistakes and we have some bugs. I hope that in <14 days from that release we'll have addressed the major issues there.
v0.5 also has some missing design elements as it's only a partial overhaul of certain aspects of the BF2 systems. v0.6 will complete the transition to our new systems. And I hope <60 days from the v0.5 release. And it will be really cool
Or at least *we* think it will be hehe. And we think that gamers who think like us will also think it's cool. But not everybody will like it and that's OK

lol sorry.. i was cranky.. ok here it goes..
the name Project Reality is in my opinion the theme to strive to the ultimate reality in gaming..
there for it takes skill and teamwork to keep yourselfs alive and going actualy into cmbat and helping your teammates as well as possible..
the ''5/6 bullets = kill'' thng is to make sure u dont RUn and Gun like in vBF2
but it makes u value ur life more and actualy use Tactics (T.A.C.T.I.C.S.)
so if you dont like that fact... then dont play or play single player
have fun doing what ever...

If some of you guys spend the same amount of time on the battlefield as you whine, you would have been extremely skilful and dangerous on the battlefield...

I don't even know what you lot are on about. It's not exactly rocket science to understand the game now is it. I mean cmon now, we all did much harder stuff at school. If you're smart enough to install BF2 and install a mod for it. You're more than qualified to learn PR. I can't think of a way for it to become simpler. Dev's really made the user interface simple and not too different from vBF2's one, and once you learn the basic PR rules - it's not like you can forget it. It's just not one of those things you forget (PR's changes/rules)

About body armor, it's nowhere near as effective if a 7.62 weapon is being shot at you. In RL even though there is a great chance the armor would stop it, you're getting knocked off of your feet. There is no way for that to be simulated so becoming critically wounded is the best solution out there imho.
