Or just give the support guys more ammo. I never take the kit for fear of running out. Even when in a squad the single rifleman (2 meds, 1 SL, 1 Light AT) is dead 1/3 of the time especially when you need more ammo. When he is up he might be busy watching the other flank, etc. So you need to conserve your ammo. If you are conserving anyway your position is moot and you just grab a more effective grenadier kit.

Just get him to give you ammo after every engagement then.

The bottom line is, if you give them more ammo, then lonewolves will whore it just like in 0.32.

I take this kit a LOT, and find it incredibly useful as is. If you give them more ammo, then people will whore it and the squad players will never get to use it.

Have you even noticed the limited kit request system? It was abused in 0.32 because it had better ROF and accuracy than most other guns. In 0.4 the M4 took that place. Now in 0.5 only the G3 has incredible killing potential but it is acceptable.

Don't patronize me. Of course it's a limited kit. That was my point. If you make it attractive to lonewolves, squad players won't be able to use it. Because they will all already be taken, just like the DMRs in 0.4.

This kit is fine the way it is. If it was not requestable and required 3 people, it would be whored wayyyyyyyyy too much, and it is already more powerful then any other SAW/MG version in PR. Ammo is easy to get too if you have a rifleman in your squad. If you do not, you probably shouldn't be playing with it anyway as your squad is not very balanced.

THATS JUST IT!! it is a limited kit, and knowone ever uses it!

The SAW is supposed to be a killer, THATS WHAT ITS MADE FOR!

like i said before, i was on a 64 man server, completly full, and only me and my friend were support gunners, in the whole server. not even the other team had a support gunner.

I cant belive how you guys are saying 2 drums in total is enough. It wont last me a single firefight ingame.

2nd, its not even realistic, in RL, if they give you just 2 drums, consider yourself dead.

and for a team to whore a weapon, it has to be more then just 4 freakin people, as that is the maximum it gives out, and depending on the amount of people in the server. but 4 is max.

JP*wasteland.soldier wrote:Wow. This *is* getting really repetitive. Find some team players, get them on xfire, and you'll find people willing to go rifleman.
thats just it, support gunners should not have to rely on riflemen, unless the gunner asks the rifleman to get his ammo from the truck :p

+1 for giving support more ammo.

I give alot of suppressing fire. And more often than not, i find that i am only left with my knife and i have to go find a rifleman....

We should make a poll to show the Devs how important it is to give support gunners more ammo drums. Then mabe they will change it.

It isn't overpowered. For example opposite RPK-74 is more accurate and much deadlier at distance.

I disagree, POE weapons are mostly overpowered. No exception for MG36

But even if its kind of easy to find ammo the support gunner should have more ammo, they have more in RL so then they should have more here, easy

Not true, Assistant gunners have been used for years, ive seen soldiers carrying extra belts of SAW ammo for their SAW gunners (or for the M60 in the case of conflicts such as Vietnam) in so many pictures, from Iraq to Afghanistan, Somalia to Vietnam.

The Rifleman currently fills that role as Assistant Gunner and does this very well, a Gunners weakness is the fact that effectively they cannot engage targets at ranges over 400m (or even 300m) and so the scopes Rifleman brandishing the flashy scope and the tons of extra Ammo compliments the Gunners kit.

As for the PKM being 50., christ, only if you bench press houses for a living. The PKM is a 7.62mm GPMG, i dont believe ive seen a portable 50. MG in existence.
Four parts to a Marine fire team.... 3 of which are in a squad

1. Fireteam leader with M203
2. SAW gunner with M249
3. Assistant SAW gunner that is there to, as the name implies, assist the SAW gunner.
4. Rifleman.... to be point :-( , (Being the lowest guy on the food chain. Rank wise. Though experienced Point man is verry valuable.)

In that order too.

although, the only time the assistant helps the SAW gunner is with the belts of ammunition.

POE2 is unrealistic and just goes for the gadget weapons.

We are re-working SAW gunner ammo count in the future, now that's a limited kit, and people seem to be using cover fire more often we are increasing his mag count it will be different depending on the weapon. I don't think we came to a conclusion yet though.
