Heavy AT kit

Post by wooly-back-jack »

are you planning on doing anything with this kit?
atm it takes more skill to use one in vBF2
you used to have to lead your target and guide the missile in, taking choppers down was hard work unless they were hovering over a flag.
now you can insta-zap full blackhawks out of the sky so easily that there is no point in having an AA kit :? :
No matter what distance, or what speed they are going just point and press left-mouse to zap aircraft from the sky.

I believe after the server patch you have to hold the trigger for 3 seconds before it will fire. Along with the fact you cannot obtain it from RPs anymore.

Not sure beyond that though.
If you enter a fair fight, you didn't plan it properly.

Yeah, it's limited. I think it's fine as is.

I do not like the 3 second hold to fire idea, I think that will cause a lot of missing of my target.

Aircraft need to be aware of these things and make adjustments accordingly. I am pretty sure in real life if someone was going fairly slow with a heli that you could waste it with a guided rocket. In VBF2 the missiles moved way to slow for it to be effective and therefore you needed the "skill" to lead the target.
In VBF2 I had more hours with AT than any other class, so I became pretty good with them. Even in PR here I am finding it not too difficult to hit a moving chopper with the base AT kit.

I think the kit is fine, not getting it from a rally point is OK to me, but a arbitrary 3 second delay on trigger is not.

not think it is too fast on leaving the launcher though?
Its just like an instant hit to me once it is fired, do they really travel that fast?...like bullet fast?

Maybe not bullet fast but really fast. I think the BF2 engine limits the initial slow propulsion from the tube so it is fast even just out of the barrel, but otherwise it seems spot on.
