How come no one plays Extraction??

How come no one plays Extraction??

I've been playing PR since .3 and Only once have I actually played extraction, and that was with 5 people. Why doesn't anyone play it??? It's not that bad of a mode is it?

The trouble with extraction is it's often over too quickly. It took 2 minutes for a round to end today.

is there a possiblity that to make an extraction map harder, there should be more checkpoints that one must go through? i played Helmand Prov Extract, and i cant tell you how easy it was getting in the brit jeep... driving up to the crashsite, getting the kit.. and driving allll the way on either side of the map out of sight from the insurgents... and getting home without firing a shot. Maybe adding in 2-3 checkpoints might help. And also the ability for more spawn points for the "defenders?"

On the issue of Street, that is just a horrible map for over 16 people (and i know that the devs have said it wasnt meant for anything over 16), but still. If you're playing brit, it is very difficult to get out of the spawn since the insurgents will just come in and camp everywhere, tossing in molotovs and plugging up the chokepoints. If you manage to get halfway.. you have to stop, and take a right (if you are on the top of the map) and go down an alley way, which is just suicide. The map forces you to take a right, instead of having say 4-5 possible alley ways that one could go through. just my 2cents :/

Checkpoints would be good. Like 10 second capture points the extraction team would have to capture on the way before delivering the VIP to the extraction point.

Or maybe just make it so the jeep can always be seen on the map or something like that.

By every team?
And yeah, I think some maps need more spawn points for insurgents with a more complex route for the SUV. Maybe with a light/medium AT kit near the opposition spawn point(s)

I agree, extraction is my favorite mode of play. When I start up the game the first thing I search for is an extration server, but usually come up empty or find one that is on the Street level. And I kind of disagree about the Helmland Province level, the only time I played it was intense. You basiclly couldn't use the truck because it would get destroyed once you got to the small bridge. The only level I don't like is Street, because like it has been said, it is almost impossible for the British to get out of their spawn zone after the game gets going. But definately more people should play extraction.

Servers should run 4 or maybe even 6 rounds per extraction map. Thats my opinion.

Yeah i always look for extract servers first...when i dont find em then i play aas

*Why not make troops able to shoot from the suburban.I seen a show where some PMCS actually hada makeshift machine gun port out the back winda. :-D

Run the extract twice for each team before loading the next map. I want more extraction but server admins are not even giving it a try.

there is a 24/7 extract server. I could never say its name. Drukubukan???(i cant remember the spelling) or something close to that. It plays Helmland, Moskie, Al basrah, and Street 2 rounds each. Most of the people on it are nice.

EDIT: The server name was Datorbutiken.com #9 PR .5 but I guess they stopped the extract maps. When i looked up the server it was playing Operation Pheonix so i guess they stopped that :( .

Yea, I think extraction is over so quick that it is not really worth it for the load. Either some idiot will take the car and get blown up, or the insurgents will trap the US on some island or in some spot and spawn kill the car.

If the car was able to be locked and only allowed to be taken by 6 man squads, then I could see it working, but not in its current state.

Definately need a 24/7 Extraction server. And like some suggested, the game mode needs a bit more work. Like adding more checkpoints to pass through (So players don't travel in through some remote region of the map).

On the servers part, make sure there are plenty of rounds before moving on to the next map.

Street could use more a bit more work. I think simply making it easier for the brits to move out of spawn would help. Or, simply have the insurgents spawn further away from the British spawn, that might help a lot more.

there are a few 24/7 extraction server, or at least they are always running when i check for them, but they are usually empty. Once we had 30 people on one, but not for long.

We will get a 32 slot server this week (NorthAmerica)

If there is enough ppl that want a Xtract server we will run a Xtract only rotation.

Question: Would it be better to squeeze maybe 2 or 3 AAS2 maps in the rotation?

The problem is they are too repetetive, ie:

get car, drive, get kit, drive,win.

all over in 30 secs and then another 30 secs for the enemy team to do the same thing then map switch.

I think the only hope is to make extraction like vanilla IO karkand.

hear me out: make one building with a multiple floors and a courtyard out side, make us/brits/china (why are there no chinese maps?) fight to ground floor then out the court yard.

in short, introduce more action to extraction, as it is its flat as a pancake, we need more nades, artillery, atmospheric explosions etc. otherwise its just a sniper feast/

Increase the damage that molotov cocktails do to vehicles. Several times I have seen the insurgents throwing them at the VIP car while it was standing still, but they are not doing any damage.

You could make it so the team capturing the checkpoints has to do them in order, and the team defending can take them back in any order. But it would take longer for the defending team to capture them. That way, as you're coming back through, it would be like an ambush in an area that you though was secure.
