Pilot/Driver Training

Post by Blackhawk 5 »

I believe we should have a Pilot/Driver training session, similar to the squad leader training. I've seen so many terrible driving done to inexperienced players. I'm also sick of people just getting into helis, and not have the pilot kit, hogging it and rambling "WTF I CANT FLY!!11" Also, especially the littlebird, for the first time when you take off, it does a flip and lands upsidedown on the carrier. Good for the laughs, but the respawn times are annoying. Also everyone should get a chance to fly, but you can't really practice by youself, because the squads. My suggestions.

Yes ive seen this many times, i only got used to the new Helis by trial and error with a few crashes but im up to speed now and am loving it, Training like this though is not worth it as there are thousands of Heli Pilots in PR and the fact not all of them are dedicated (plus the odd few just came from the Vanilla ice cream truck)

Spent most of a game last night stuck on a carrier. Got to the docks three time, only to get slotted. Spent 80% of the game waiting for the LB's to spawn only for some noob to grab a kit, jump in and flip it on its roof taking most of my squad with them.

It was amusing to start with but it gets very frustrating.

Yeah it's because people aren't smart enough to learn to fly on their own server or an empty server, the basterd. If you don't know how to fly or haven't flown before don't practice online! But I shouldn't be telling you guys this.

My suggestion is PM the people who are doing the SL training and suggest it, I'm sure they will be more then happy to help.

As far as tanks/APCs go, the gunner MUST have VOIP, driver doesn't really need it. It's the gunner that is telling him left right back forward. So if you and some guy you don't know are in a tank together, and he has voip, if he wants to gun, please let him =)

for everyone who is **** at flying copters (before and especially now - including me).

change the game parameters so that a server will start running and hence you can start to request kits with only one player.
fire up the server on your lan
practice

*tuts at the lack of proper voicecomms*, instead of all that typing WTF, surely people can fire up voip to their commander and say "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" instead.

Maybe I should start lessons for proper armor tactics then. :)

The choppers in PR are not hard so long as you are careful and patient. The Blackhawk is the hardest to fly because it has a tendency to roll when turning. Classes are fun though and any tips that improve your performance are excellent.

The problem is that most of us at the forums know to practice on a local server, its the people no on the forums that we have trouble with.

i find it other way, i find blackhawks easier then little birds, to me they feel like the blackhawk IS a hawk-you have to be gentle with the mouse and little taps on the keyboard and shes yours- the littlebird on the other hand, to me it feels like a leaf being blown about in the wind, i think you just have to have experience to fly them well, i spent a lot of time in an empty lan learning how to fly again, the main problem is new flyers seem to have no patience they run in with infantry kits fire it up start shooting and the deck and screaming to get going.
my only problem with flying is i get lag sometimes :/

I just joined these forums and I have been making local servers forever. Every time a new mod comes out or a new patch, I fire up the local server and test out the new vehicles the new maps etc. It really helps instead of just diving in blind. Plus the PR wiki helps out alot. But then again I have this thing called common sense  But you are right more people need to practice or at least read some before they jump into somethign new. And mabye the people who have hours and hours of play could take some time to find the n00bs at the begenning of the game and set them in the right direction? That way we wont have the pilot seat of the choppers occupied for 2 mins while people figure out you need a special kit.

I'll be willing to teach players how to fly choppers. However, I am not the best black hawk pilot, I am however an exceptional little bird pilot. But I'm proficient enough with the blackhawk that I can teach. Along with any other air vehicle.

If anyone is interested, just message me. Would be nice if I could help some other pilots and get a little get together.

Anyways, this is a must. Bad pilots suck. I hate losing good kits and getting killed for no good reason.

I think I'll work on a YouTube Video guide to flying in PR. Anyone who wants to help with it, I'd appreciate it.

hehe I thought you must have at least 3 players in your squad to get a pilot kit. I never flown a heli except a blackhawk, (in which I crashed). Server rules kept saying "If you can not fly, DONT" Therefore, avoiding flaming.

Blackhawk, are you that guy who was a gunner in my AH-1Z squad on Oman some days ago? My name was either KFOR_I or BLUFOR-73. We rocked.

Holy shit, cool. We need to play some more. Unfortunately BF2 gave me a "Your CD-key isn't valid" error today, so I reinstalled it - only to remember that I put the 1.41 patch and the PR install in the BF2 folder, so they got wiped too. :(
