Small City Maps
I think the game needs more maps like karkland where you have to check corners an don't have to run 600 meters between points with little cover. The fighting would be more intense an the gameplay would be more fun. Now I know the bigger maps are more realistic an epic because you can simulate a whole city an taking a whole city. I think lots of players would agree smaller intense maps would be a welcomed addition. Vote for what you would like to see more of.

PR is trying to get big maps, as big as they can go. Bigger map promotes the kind of gameplay most people are looking for. Like insalii or whatever forest, i can't stand the map it's so tiny! most of our players want bigggg 64 player maps. i think your best bet would be to help set up a city/urban server that has maps on 16 player size =)
Small mps to most of us is just too CCSish

I played on a 32 map size of Bashra with 64 people and it sucked. You couldn't move without getting shot or blown up. It's defiantly not the type of game play I want, or anyone else I was playing with wants to do. Big maps are the way to go. Maybe a huge city map that is just a city, no desert or anything. That would be pretty cool but I bet it would lag like hell. Does hell lag? Or is it just really hot and annoying?

i would like to see both huge maps and small intense maps with fewer players.. for example street would probably be fun if it had 1 or 2 more streets to use..
also small maps would be great for small groups to play.. right now i think qwai for example is almost unplayable with less than 20 people...just too much ground to cover (at least with aas2) and engagements are too spread out..
How about a large airpower map or purely tank battles?
that would be a refreshing change...

I want large, large city maps. Like a bigger version of Street. 64 player-sized. With a few open squares where major firefights could take place. Lots of enterable buildings and rooftops. Rubbish and car wrecks in the streets for cover. That sandstorm effect from Fallujah to cut down view distance in order to reduce lag. Think Mogadishu in Black Hawk Down. THAT would be a Basrah-killer if I ever saw one.
More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

I'd like to see large maps .. like twice the size of the largest vBF2 maps with the entire area playable.
Lots of transport for Infantry .. helicopters and APCs and Jeeps.
And within those maps, some areas that are really optomised for Infantry play.. so villages with no access by vehicle where there are a couple of control points in the village. All buildings destructible, but with a good amount of fixed AA so it's really difficult for helicopters / aircraft to rape the area.

thats what i was thinking too eggman...im always afraid that once we unleash airpower the infantry become kind of useless.....hope it can be both infantry AND airpower AND heavy vehicles..
hopefully we can isolate no fly zones that are just too hot for air power....or maybe tight city areas although the lag monster is always lurking right around the corner...

I know you can set air combat zones, so why not have the storyline something like the helicopters cannot enter the city area because of the risk of civ casualtys'[R-DEV wrote:IronTaxi']thats what i was thinking too eggman...im always afraid that once we unleash airpower the infantry become kind of useless.....hope it can be both infantry AND airpower AND heavy vehicles..

I'm for a Tank and APC only battle in the desert. That would be awesome. though it would probably pretty rough for a 64 player version. A jungle extraction one would be awesome also.

Large countryside maps are my favourite. With the RP system, two opposing squads can have some pretty interesting fire fights in the most out of the way and neglected (and sometimes never seen) parts of these maps. I think it really helps for people to appreciate what the map maker has done when you are fighting over every bump and hollow - talk about maximising the longevity of a map. Note the cleverly placed (and realistic) drainage ditches around the place anyone?
Bottlenecks had to go, spawncamping had to go - we need space and variety in lines of attack so that players can out think each other and press the advantage. Combined arms is the best - helo drops out in the boon docks, overland travel by an alert squad with (hopefully) some backup by an APC, tank, attack chopper or even just a jeep (poor man's APC). In defence, it's all about ambushes, lanes and fire and nasty surprises. My idea of a good game is not stacking up at a street corner waiting for my turn to jump into the chainsaw and then spamming off half a magazine at a dug-in support gunner.... Don't take it the worng way though, urban settings are fun, just not the ones were you only have the choice of street A, B or C.

Make whatever kind of map you like, but IMNSHO the best rounds are those where you have time to gather your squad and head to an objective, and regroup if the shit hits the fan. The worst are 64 players on a 32 map where you have no chance for any sort of squad combat, just spam, spam, spam.
TBH, I think the vBF2 map, Zatar Wetlands would rock as a PR map.

I always wanted to see a huge wide open map with round 8+ tanks per side... At least 1 map like that. And i mean, in the arabian deserts know... Really open and far view distance, with small destroyable villages where you could place mines and wait for the tanks to come. Where snipers could just sit in a mountain and kill ppl 500m far away... offering a real threat and demanding integration among infantry and armor, so the tanks could be actual cover for infants.

Not a fan of small maps. If I want small maps Ill play on an engine that does it alot better than BF2 can.
I agree with eggman says, HUGE maps!!! with areas where infantry can dominate and vehicles cant get to, and then big open areas, and then areas with forest etc. variety is key!
As far as tank maps: be sure to check out Zatar Wetlands in v0.6! I think you will enjoy it, im finalizing a re-work of it right now.
